NAS File System Best Practice?

Hey guys,

I just set up my 412. It's really only going to be NAS for Movies, TV, Music and Photos. The vast majority of the time, I will just be accessing my media via network shares and played locally on whatever computer I'm on (I can't see myself using the multimedia station, unless maybe the odd time I want to use Qmobile...). What I'm wondering is how I should be organizing things.

Option 1:
Put my "Movies", "TV", "Music" and "Photos" directories as their own shares

Option 2:
Put my "Movies", "TV", "Music" and "Photos" directories as subfolders in the "Multimedia" share.

What would YOU do, and what would be any advantage or disadvantage of each option?

Thanks for any constructive input.

Definately option 2. By maintaining your Videos, Music, Photos etc in the standard locations, all the QNAP stuff will work, and your PCs and MediaPlayers can access \\NAS\Multimedia\xxxxxx easily. Works like a charm here.

Gotcha. Good call. That's the way I'll do it then.

definitely option 2 because one share only needs to be mapped under windows.
