Sorry I am totally new to SSL but cant find the answer whether I should use SSL or not.
I do access my qnap from outside via apk. Not use FTP.
I would like to know under what type of situation is good to use SSL setup?
Does Qfile or Qmanager require any kind of SSL certificate similar to web browers to login to Qnap outside the local network ?
Thanks
Ken

Re: SSL
You should use encrypted connection at least whenever accessing something from untrusted network... Otherwise, your credentials and everything you transfer can be sniffed in cleartext.

Re: SSL
If Ken is running Heartbleed vulnerable QTS 4.0.0 - 4.0.5, this advice is incorrect. Some weeks ago, I have requested via a PM to QNAPJason a cleanup of the useless outdated irrelevant mess in the Announcement subforum and making a global announcement from this post, of course nothing done, no reponse, nothing.
