Hardware RAID

Postby guido » Fri Jan 01, 2010 12:12 pm

Hi Qnap,

Is it correct that all QNAPs have a software RAID?
Alltough the troughput is high, according to compatitors, we are a bit concerned about the performance of the large models. We are thinking of using TS-809U-RP's
Thrughput is nice, but I/O is more important for us, because we want to connect lotst database servers to the QNAP.
E.g. with backup battery/ cache etc.

Q1: will this be available in the future?
Q2: will QNAP think to certify one or more models with vmware for iSCSI / ESX (a price increase of 50% is then more then acceptable...)
Q3: can QNAP add extensive test charts to the site, so we can do a better compare?

thx,
guido

Yes I believe QNAP uses Software RAID and, having a TS-509 myself, I can say the performance is awesome.
I don't know if HW Raid will be available in the future, maybe someone from QNAP can better answer your questions.
