Hi,
I'm planning to buy a QNAP NAS that is capable to transcode HD movies on the fly for mobile devices. I found the NAS systems TS-451 and TS-453mini.
What NAS system do you recommend if the power consumption is also a important factor. I'd like to use 4 NAS harddisks as a RAID5 system.
Thanks and kind regards
Florian

Re: TS-451 vs. TS-453mini
Check out the QNAP Product Matrix. It allows "comparing models side-by-side".
For example check out the TS-453 Pro vs TS-453mini vs TS-451 Comparison.
Due to the higher cost of 2.5" drives, I would stick to 3.5" compatible NAS Models myself, regardless of power usage. A typical PC Server uses >400W. All these NAS models are using less than 25W, so I don't understand why it matters which model you purchase. Perhaps you pay more for electricity than I do.

Re: TS-451 vs. TS-453mini
Hi,
Both accepts 3.5" & 2.5" HDDs/SSDs
TS-453mini has toolless installation of 3.5" HDDs.
TS-453mini also produces less noise due to the internal fan design.
TS-453 Pro has metallic body and trays.
