TS-563 vs TS-451+ > (I bought the TS-251+)

Post by rflsouza »

Personally, I am in wanting to upgrade my NAS (QNAP 219P +). But I'm in doubt in my next NAS and wanted opnion.

Use is for home / office. I am a developer, then use git, webserver, php, mysql. And now I want to start using VMs, LXC, docker and etc ... For home, my use is to stream via DLNA, and file sharing. I do not think need to have HDMI.

My focus would be the performance and compatibility of the software with the processor. This AMD is newer, I do not know if it will have any problem.

I'm thinking of the TS-563 $552.99 or TS-451+ $429.00.

I also think that I will not use more than 2 bays, it is another preciousness, something that could save money and get a 2-bay. Despite that in the future, I can use a SSD to cache, find very iterresante for performance.

 What do you suggest?

Thanks,
Rafael

Hi Rafael,
If you do not need HW encryption and if 4 bay capacity is enough for your, then TS-451+ is a better value for your use cases since it's got HDMI output which can also supports VM.

I bought the TS-251+ and I think I made a great choice!!! I am very happy :)

I read that staff put 16GB of memory and had no doubt bought the same model indicated memory "Crucial CT2KIT102464BF160B 16GB DDR3-1600 Kit". And it's working like a charm!

To the memory installation follow steps like the procedure.

For the migration of the TS-219P + for the TS-251 + is very simple, very beautiful to see, just put the same disc like this link.

I am very happy about QNAP products!!!
