Some tests (like the ones making use of SiSoft Sandra File Systems Benchmark) are reporting Random Access time cut by about half when using the same mechanical disk drives when comparing SATA-2 (3.0) with SATA 6.0.

I suppose that's because of the caching done by the drive, and accessing the cache will be as fast as your link can be. check the press releases from qnap - on the upcomming CeBit they will present the first devices - and to those who say "why?", well if you plan to keep your NAS running for several more years, it might be nice to already be ready for the coming devices - doesn't hurt.
