Re: x53 When ?

Post by taytos »

Hey Philippe,

Don't misunderstand me, I would never use more than 1 VM on the x51/x53 Pro personally, even if it let me. Performance would not be satisfactory in my own opinion. Even with my TS-670 Pro, I will normally never run more than 2 (even displays a message if you run more than 2 that performance will not be great, screenshot below).

But the factual answer is that we (QNAP) have not limited it in the software.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Confirmed - TS-451, QTS 4.1.1 20140822, QVS 1.1.2088 - two VM are silently accepted, starting from three a warning is issued:

Hi!

i want to order a Qnap ts-453 pro with 2GB and also buy a 2x KVR16LS11/4 Kingston 4GB DDR3L SO-DIMM 1600MHz, PC3-12800, but i have been searching in Qnap website about Upgrade RAM Memory for QNAP NAS, but they dont update how if this posible to do and also if doing so voids the warranty.
http://www.qnap.com/index.php?sn=4605
Someone has changed some memories in any x53 pro?

Thanks deejayexe!

Hi deejayexe,
TS-x53 Pro RAM upgrade is the same as TS-651/TS-851.
we will add the info later this week.

Nice job! the page http://www.qnap.com/index.php?sn=4605 has been updated. Only small problem: the text is in bold :)

Just a thought...

I wonder if it's worth adding a brief section (at the top of that page) on the absolutely essential requirement to take electrostatic precautions before handling memory (and poking about inside the Qnap). I'd maybe even advise on how best to do that for folks who don't own a strap and wrist band (also, pictures of an ESD strap and wrist band being worn whilst fitting the memory would do no harm, even if these ones were taken in an ESD equipped workshop area) as not everyone will be aware of that issue (and the potential for damage by not taking electrostatic precautions).

Thanks, made my day... must be written for the U.S. market, I guess:
Locate the memory slot. Make sure the slot is empty.

Can anybody tlel me about the performance of a windows 7 vm with 2 proc and 4 gig allocated? I am slightly concerned about the celeron quad core processor.. does it handle all requests smoothly.
How fast does it write to the disks? are there some benchmarks about the processor available?

Missing a check point that the wet can't must be removed from the NAS before closing, as it's not appropriate to use the NAS as a cat hair dryer.

I don't have one but as long as your disk is quick, you'll have good performance. The eepc comment was a joke (i hope) since that system came out about 8 years ago and the celeron then pales in comparison to this one.

maybe you can start a thread detailing your needs and bounce some specific questions off the forum.

Broken, no properly seated, ... already tried just one of em in the first slot?

The KVR16LS11/4 (and the /8) are probably the most used ones - please have an eye in the other threads on x51/x53 updates. Even Kingson does list these modules for x51/x53 upgrades.
