Firefly Media Server, Swedish Chars in Playlists

Postby smajostender » Thu Jul 19, 2012 5:29 pm

Hi,
Anybody out there having the same problem with swedish chars in playlists *.m3u ?
The playlist name can contain å, ä, ö and it looks right in iTunes, but the songnames
included in the *.m3u file with swedish chars disappear. Only the ones without are
displayed.
Any solution (except renaming all my swedish songs)?
Best regards /Smajo

Hard to answer you. What device are we talking about? I understand we're talking iTunes & MediaFly, but what hardware is the iTunes running on?

MacOS, Windows, iPhone ?

Please clarify.

- Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1
- iTunes 10.6.3.25
- QNAP TS-212, Firmware 3.7.1 Build 20120615
- Firefly Media Server, version svn-1696.
- All media under /share/Multimedia/
- Music under /share/Multimedia/Music/

Hello again,
I tried first to use smart playlists in Firefly as it would have been the easiest way,
specified "Artist" and "Album", and sometimes it worked and other it didn't found any tracks.
Started with "10cc" and album "10cc" worked fine = 14 tracks,
next "10cc" and album "** Tourists" returned = 0 tracks.

Then i tried several times to put playlists *.m3u under different folders before
i found out that the right place is under Artist-folder like this:
"\\STENDERSERVER\Multimedia\Music\Al Stewart"
with the tracks in the *.m3u written like this:
"Chronicles - The Best Of\01 Year Of The Cat.mp3"
So far so good, but when it came to swedish songs (chars) in the trackname, Firefly found the
playlist but left out the tracks with swedish chars.
The playlist itself contains swedish chars and is displayed accurate in iTunes, but not
the tracknames.
Has it something to do with char-list in Firefly? or ID-tag in the MP3-file?
As i understand Firefly only reads the the chars in the *.m3u file and so i think
the problem is somewere in Firefly. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Thankful if somebody could help me out with such an simple but annoying problem.

Ahhhh, i'm learning to understand smart playlists in Firefly,
it even reads swedish chars, but...
It's hard to understand the switches (in the wizard).
Does Firefly scan foldernames, or actually reads ID-tags in *.mp3 ?
And how about compilations, i have some folders that contains more
than 400 tracks with different artists.

Smajo:

I'm afraid I seldom use MediaFly, so I have nothing to offer you in that regard, but I just noticed that you seem to be posting to the wrong Forum, which probably explains why you aren't getting many replies to your questions. You might get more assistance if you asked your questions over in the Media Streaming forum.

Ask your questions over there. You'll probably be less lonely if you do. :D

Have a great day, and that you for participating...

Patrick.

Problem might be even more that the Firefly Media Server is outdaed, not to say highly obsoslete, and is replaced by the forked-daapd nowadays. And thee is no longer a Web UI at all... QNAP has implmeneted a QPKG from forked-daapd named QiunesAir.

Hi,
Yes, i have tested that too.
But, if i'm not wrong one client has to be up and running if anyone will be able to access the music that i stored on QNAP.
Not as flexible as Firefly?
Correct me if i'm wrong.
