QPKGs keep dissapearing!

Postby pascone » Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:41 pm

It's happened like 5 times now in 48 hours. All installed .QPKGs simply cease to exist and both the qpkg.conf and qpkg.conf.bak files turn up empty. What the heck is going on?? TS-219 with 3.7.1

The solution for me was to update to version 3.7.3.
Good Luck!

Most times I restart my QNAP all my QPKGs go missing.
QNAP TS-659 Pro+ (3.7.2 Build 20120719)

Offical changelog on 3.7.3 for x86 doesnt say anything about addressing this issue.
I will be cautious to upgrade in the future..
TS-659 Pro+ [6x 2TB Raid 5]
Cisco Linksys E3000 as Gateway & E2000 as an Access Point; both running Tomato RAF.

Tech support advised me to upgrade to 3.7.3 and in my case the issue is solved in this version.

I have the same here, lost every thing downgraded and upgraded as spoken about in this thread. Nothing seems to work. QNAP support this is really bad !!
Things you do NOT want your System Administrator to say:

    Ooops....
    dd if=/dev/null of=/vmunix
    find /usr2 -name nethack -exec rm -f {};
    That's SOOOOO bizarre.
    Wow....that seemed fast.....

Hmm started to all over again. One reminder. Do not remove your previously installed qpkg settings using the command line. If you installed the new one over the one who wont start, you dont loose you settings !

Another victim of the qpkg-problem. After restart, all qpkg's disappeared. Really getting annoyed with this "new feature". Scared the * out of me. Please fix this asap!

Same problem here. As soon as I upgraded to version 3.7.3, it started to happen. Each time I rebbot the NAS, QPKGs are gone from the web UI. However, config files are still there.

Make a backup of qpkg.conf to something other than qpkg.conf.bak, each time you reboot copy this backup to qpkg.conf, you will need to re-enable each qpkg but you won't have to reinstall. I imagine you could write a script to automate the entire process..

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll do so. Let's hope somebody finds the cause for this and fixes it.

cause is simple, the latest firmware upgrade deposits an upgrade script in the .qpkg dir that is meant to do some ordering changes in the qpkg.conf. Problem is that it is buggy and poorly written, overwriting the original data in the config file.

no idea what QNAP wanted to achieve with it.

Can it be safely deleted?
It puts the packages in alphabetical order, so the packages with optware dependancies are started before optware and in turn not starting up on boot.

Edit:
noticed its listed right at the bottom of the qpkg.conf, perhaps it would be better to remove it from there or comment it out?
