Hi,
I am new to QNAP and to this forum so bear with me.
I got a TS-269 Pro a short time back, having 2 * 4TB Seagate drives in RADI 1 and I am on Firmware version 4.0.7, here my "issue":
To try out the backup function to external drive I connected a USB drive to one of the rear USB 3.0 ports.
Created a set of backup jobs (4), started a backup, when completed I saw the following error message for two files:
Warning: The file "nn/nn/nn.nnn" exceeds the implementation defined maximum file size of the destination side! This file will be skipped
I cannot understand as I used same USB drive as a backup for my old NAS, the two files are 8.29GB and 4.64GB I have copied the same two files to the same USB drive using Windows Explorer and MAC Finder without any problem.
Suggestions?

Hello,
I'm new too and I've the same problem.
I'm a french user and the only topic I found on google about this error code is this one.
Did you fix your problem ?
In my case the file which is problematic is a .pst (outlook data file) and it's size is 8 766 073ko.
In the same backup I've another .pst file of 3 258 489ko and there is no problem whit it.

Re: Backup to External USB - "exceeds defined maximum file s
Hello.
Problem solved for me.
My external drive was in FAT32 ==> maximum size for one file = 5Gb
I've formatted it in NTFS, restart my backup and now it works because NTFS format alow very big file.
Thanks.

My USB device is NTFS formatted, but I still get the message.
