RTRR FTP Permission Denied

Post by guitman423 »

I have just set up a new TS-559. I an trying to set up a folder pair using an Secure FTP server (FileZilla). I can connect to the FTP server successfully and create folder pairs, but files do not copy (folders do, sort of...). The correct source folder structure is created, but it is created a level above the intended destination directory. For instance:

Source: QNAP\Data
Destination: ftpserver.mycompany.com/Backup/QNAP

In the source folder, there are subfolders Data\Folder1, Data\Folder2, and Data\Folder3. Each folder has many data files in them.

When I perform a sync, the destination incorrectly looks as follows:

ftpserver.mycompany.com/Backup/Folder1
ftpserver.mycompany.com/Backup/Folder2
ftpserver.mycompany.com/Backup/Folder3
ftpserver.mycompany.com/Backup/QNAP/~$%#~000 (not sure what this is, but it is created by the RTRR operation)

So, as you can see, the sync folders are a level above the QNAP folder, not in the QNAP folder where they should be according to the pair. Additionally, the files themselves never copy, and I receive the following log in QNAP:

Date Time Content
2011-08-21 20:00:00 Job [Data-->Remote:QNAP] started.

2011-08-21 20:00:21 The synchronization is finished.

2011-08-21 20:00:21 Not all files/folders and their attributes are synchronized!
2011-08-21 20:00:21 7 file(s)/folder(s) are skipped because of permission denied.
2011-08-21 20:00:41 Job finished. (Not all files/folders and their attributes are copied!)

I have verified the FTP user account has full access, as I can create/edit/delete files/folders using an FTP client.

I am using firmware version 3.4.4 Build 0718T

The account has full permissions:

Files: read, write, delete, append

Folders: Create, delete, List

I have tested uploading/deleting using an FTP client successfully.

I have the same problem when I want to sync (RTRR FTP) files from my Qnap 219P+ to a DLink DNS 323 NAS with FTP. The files are copied but temp folders with the following name: ~$%#~000 and a temp file "a" stays behind.

Do you have a sollution yet?

I have a case open with Support. Are you using SSL over FTP? This is where my problem is at the moment. There seems to be a bug in the RTRR FTP subsystem when using SSL.

It sounds like your issue is slightly different than mine, though. Are you saying you have successful file copies, but you also get the weird folder names? I get the weird folder names, but no files copied.

I'm not working with SSL, just normal FTP. Files are created okay but the copy process want to set owner or something else, that gives an error. When I set the policy to delete "not available" files on the source also on the destination the temp folders and "a" files inside the temp folders are deleted fine.

See my case:

Hello, I have the same problem as guitman423 - Initial RTRR FTP replication job goes OK, then on second sync I 'm getting error: "Can't get the information of the destination directory "rdan/" (Permission denied), it will be skipped. (-13)" - Even if permission are set to chmod 7777.

Does someone solved it?

I just picked up a TVS-463 and had the exact same issue.
First I verified that the permissions were correct, and still had the issue. I noticed that I had a symlink in the folder which was throwing the

"# WARNING: Can't get the information of the destination directory "Destination/" (Permission denied), it will be skipped. (-13)"

Deleting the symlink allowed the operation to succeed. Hope this helps.

[Edit] - Happened again tonight. Again an errant symlink was the culprit.
