DISK FULL & CANNOT DELETE DATA. NAS RESETTED.
HI !
The NAS was full of data and I couldn't access in order to delete some of data files.
So, I made these steps:
1. Powered off the NAS.
2. Removed all the HDDs.
3. Powered on the NAS.
4. After a short beep, and then a long beep, hot-plugged all the HDDs into the NAS.
5. I MADE A GREAT MISTAKE:
I DIDN'T INITIALIZE THE NAS, BUT I RESETTED IT TO DEFAULT SETTINGS.
NOW THERE ARE DIFFERENT DIRECTORIES.
Is it still possible to recover my data and delete the minimum amount of files to gain the access ?
THANKS.
Operating System: Windows 8.1
NAS model: TS-859 Pro+
Firmware Version: 4.2.0
Drive Configuration: RAID-5
Number of drives: 8
Drive Model: five WD40EFRX + three WD30EZRX

Is your NAS operating at 0304 hrs (local time) on Wednesdays?
That was a drastic action to attempt. Yes it was a mistake.
Next time you do this to yourself:
Please review QNAP KnowledgeBase article: My NAS hard drives are full and can't access the data to delete anything.

Re: DISK FULL & CANNOT DELETE DATA. NAS RESETTED.
The NAS automatically makes configuration backups every Wednesday @ 0304 hrs, so you might be able to get your configuration back. The hard part will be getting your RAID5 array operational. Your present configuration is very risky, as you are using RAID5 across 8 drives, and 3 of those drives are not suitable for use at all. Please replace those horrid WD Greens with more WD Reds are finances permit.fansolato wrote:I'm from Italy (GMT+2: legal hour included)pwilson wrote:Please provide answers for the questions posed in article: When you're asking a question, please include the following.fansolato wrote:HI !

Lets see the status of your drives and volume. Please access your NAS via SSH, login as "admin" and run:

Re: DISK FULL & CANNOT DELETE DATA. NAS RESETTED.
Let try and assemble it manually, please try following the instructions in KnowledgeBase article: My NAS hard drives are full and can't access the data to delete anything.fansolato wrote:Code: Select all

Re: DISK FULL & CANNOT DELETE DATA. NAS RESETTED.
Please submit a ticket with the QNAP Helpdesk. I would never use RAID5 across 8 drives, even with RAID drives. I definitely would not use WD Greens in any form of RAID. WD Greens are not suitable for use in any RAID device (according to WD).fansolato wrote:When I arrive at point 7 the answer is different than the one expected:
