Time Machine not working with Mountain Lion ?

Postby ilkevinli » Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:53 pm

Is anyone else having an issue getting Time Machine working with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion ? I can see the drive in TM and it accepts my credentials, but I immediatley get an error message saying it can't connect to the drive when it tries to do a backup.

same is happening over here. Console is showing the following error as well "11/07/2012 20:44:44.416 com.apple.backupd[32]: Backup failed with error: 19"

can't find a solution at the moment.

Thanks for confirming. Tech supprt submitted a ticket with engineering so I guess we just have to wait for a fix.

That solution did not work for me either. I have also noticed that mountain lion is adding the "-2" for me as well after the name. They both resolve to the same IP so it should not be the cause of the problem.

I contacted support who informed R&D about the issue, so hopefully this will be soon seen by someone from the R&D.

Pitty, this does not answer why TM on ML does not mount the (correclty?) announced disk...

It doesn't work for me. When I manually mount the backup volume I can't access my other shares on the NAS.

If I mount my other shares manually I can use them as backup location in Time Machine too. I just can't control the maximum size of backups.

I installed GM Mountain Lion on my MBA over Lion.
Ran TM to my TS1079. I had to re-select the TM volume on the NAS but the backup worked fine.
After a few days I decided to clone back Lion to the MBA.
When I tried a backing up with my other systems, i.e. Mac Pro. The drive could not be found an I had to re-select. In doing so it did not find the previous backups and the Volume name was now TS1079-2.

I started another thread with this issue not realizing this thread folks had similar issues. I assume the "-2" means the original name was taken and locked somehow?

I am having the same problem with Mountain Lion. Although in my case, I had deleted the old sparsebundle (had what I needed and wanted to reclaim some space) before trying to backup. I get the same error and also cannot do anything manually as well. The new sparsebundle isn't being created. Another backup on Lion is still working correctly from another laptop.
