Just another "me too"
- I can select the QNAP TimeMachine and it shows the correct maximum space allocation
- but as soon as the backup starts, it fails because it cannot access the disk
- The location has the "-2" added

Brand new MacBook Air 10.8, using TimeMachine for the first time.

Same problem here. Seems like a suitable solution for using TimeMachine is to swiths hardware. More precicely - QNAP is not up to it for delivering TimeMachien backup services. Can't see how I can keep up using QNAP when the Mac support is as bad as it is. Too bad. I'll give it one or two more firmware updates before I scrap it. Really - I need something more stable than this. I even suggested this was a good solution fo one of our partners...

They have been working with a tech guy on one of our Macs over here to look into this problem, unfortunately after 2 days (working for hours) they still can't fix the problem or can they replicate it on their own equipment. So we're quite some weeks away from a fix I'm afraid.

In the meantime I noticed that if you set the limit at 0 on the TimeMachine page on the Qnap, all works fine. But please also fill in their contact form online so they can ask others for remote access to their Macs as well. Fully agree about the poor Mac support but maybe if we all send in complaints they start to take us seriously.

I've seriously started to consider the upcoming mac mini as a replacement for my QNAP. Only two conditions have to be met: eBay celebrating one of those weekends with no penalities for auctions over 2€ and Apple revisiting its current Mac Mini line.

This still hasn't been fixed yet? I'm so sick of Qnaps slow response to issues.

Haven't heard from them about this for quite some ime now, they already had 3 remote sessions in total to one of my Qnaps to check stuff but no fix yet.

The Qnap guys asked me to open up a new thread for the problem that remained after the latest firmware upgrade, so here it is:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=63713

please leave a reply there if you're still experiencing problems like I described over there. They think I'm the only one still having problems with Mountain Lion and TimeMachine.

Hi buddy,
If you have stored any data on your time machine and now if it is not working then you can use Mac data recovery tool. This software can easily restore data from time machine and supports data recovery on all the versions of Mac OS X like mountain Lion, Leopard etc. So just go ahead and download the software and get back all your data from it.
Good luck,
Carter
