It would be great if you include Scheduling in torrent client. Sometimes you need to enable the client for night only. Also choosing the path to save downloading files would be useful.

Multiple files

Postby Bob_Z » Wed Jan 30, 2008 8:02 am

A torrent usually includes multiple files. Sometimes you only need one or two files out of 50.
It would be great if you could select the files you wish to download with a chek-box or
simillar, and ignore the rest.

Thank U...

If you download a torrent and you think all the files. (filename.torrent )
Delete the torrent.
You find out that all files were not included.
You need to start the same torrent again but it does not work.
You need to start a new torrent with the filename(2).
Can that be fixed so it is possible to load a similar torrent more than once?

I would like the ability to add/delete trackers for each torrent. Currently, there is no way to tell what tracker is being used during download.

Hello!
An opportunity of NAS to record the information about the state of BT download, to get rid of file checking after a torrent pause would be great. Because it really slows the torrent launching.
I would like this feature on my TS-100.

It would be great if there was a feature to push all downloads through a proxy like relakks / btguard, etc.

I echo the comments about a IP Denial list like Peer Guardian. I'm sick of hash fails, bandwidth hogs and freeloaders. I also don't like being watched.

We also need to ensure our torrent communications are encrypted. Bit Torrent's newer clients offer this option along with a wide range of other configurations including scheduling through web interface. Is there any way to offer a standard Bit Torrent installation with these functions on the server?

I agree with Bob_z... it would be great if we could select which files we want to download from the torrent...

The killer addition for the QNAP would be Newsgroup file downloading...

Make it easy and select NZB files to download.

Is it possible???

Qget needs heaps of features, here's what I'd love to see:

Selecting which files within a torrent to download.

Move completed files to a different folder

Change the "max download rate" calculations, it's weird!. Currently if you download 4 files at a maximum of 100k/s, each download is limited to 25k/s, instead of spreading the 100k/s over the 4 files automatically depending on download speeds.

Be able to set upload and download limits to less than 10k/s ( I have 128kbit upload max so 10k/s up almost floods my connection)

Even with download/upload rates reduced to very low values, the qnap seems to flood the connection and make other connections very slow.

Pause/Resume all downloads in 1 button.

Change the priority of a file download to the top/bottom of the list in 1 action, it can take ages to move a file all the way to the top of the list, (>10 seconds per movement is slooooow.)

Maximum Download Rate values don't work for HTTP downloads.

And of course scheduling, but I hear that's already in development, awesome! :)

Upgraded to the 0416 firmware with encryption. Cannot download anything. Tried the following:

http://www.mininova.org/get/1440960

The status just sits at WAIT. Tried with uTorrent and works with no problems.

Hi, Sluggy
Please check if the ports are forwarded on your router.
Try to delete the existing torrent task and add it again. If the issue remains I would like to have tech support to check and verify. (please pm me)

Found two torrents in my pause list. Removed them and now things are working. Thanks!

Download speed seems a bit slow though. I recall seeing a FAQ on how to improve the speed. Any suggestions?

Bittorrent functionality is useless and (even worse) risky without:
-peerguardian type ability to ban abusers/spies/etc. Doesn't have to be a user-space program. It could be a simple util that connects to the peerguardian IP ban list servers and feeds those lists to IPTables config. Speaking of which, IPTables support would be a great kernel update. This functionality is 100% needed, especially in the US.
-full functionality of a standard client like utorrent or azureus. Just look at their config menus to see features, this isn't hard. For example:
>ability to see details of and control which trackers are used
>ability to control client ID string so client doesn't get banned. This is 100% needed because so many good trackers are very particular about what clients are allowed. If you can't use private trackers, it's a useless program.
>ability to control connection speed and other settings. I wasn't going to say absolutely necessary, but with limited bandwidth, this really is a necessary feature. Otherwise your entire connection gets clogged with uploads and you can't do anything else on the internet. 100% needed.
>ENCRYPTION with fine grained ability to force or allow unencrypted traffic. With so many ISPs traffic shaping or blocking BT traffic, encryption is 100% needed.
>ability to adjust connection speeds like utorrent does. Maybe even throttle based on time of day or other parameters. Don't go crazy on this, it is low priority feature compared to basic ability to control connection speed through user interface.
>ability to choose download directory and configure other usage of file system
>ability to use .torrent from a URL or uploaded as a file from user
>ability to have BT client generate .torrent files
