My only concern for now is that it may not be approved because of "torrents allow illegal content to be downloaded"... I've sent it for review more than 2 weeks ago and it's not approved/rejected yet... so I don't know.

If it's allowing to deal with torrent files, it will be rejected for sure ... Unless it's only handling ftp/http downloads !
I started a project last year and I found out that a torrent client control application was rejected because torrent is evil for Apple, so I stopped it ...
See here : viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13868 ;)
I may start my project again for jailbreaked devices ...

PS : if you submit a new version before the previous one was accepted/rejected, you'll go back to the end of the waiting queue ...
PS2 : bon courage avec Apple ;)

Hi,

Actually, SynoLoad (which is the same as QGetMobile, but for Synology NAS) has been approved... and several times (v1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3), for more than 3 months... and the keywords are identical, description too... so I don't know.

Thanks,
Jerome

Hi Jerome,

Great stuff, don't forget to add me to the list when the Android build is available. Got a HTC legend loaded with Android 2.1 here.

Hi,

When available, I'll update the beta topic with details on how to test the Android version!

I've re submitted QGetMobile on the AppStore because it had been "In Review" for 3 weeks... maybe it was lost in space somewhere :) Let's hope it will be quicker this time !

Jerome

hey jerome

thx so much! awesome work, using it right now on my iphone :D search torrents, download it on the nas, and then stream it to my ps3... all in front of the tv, perfect for people like me that are sometimes a bit lazy  will be even greater once i got an ipad ;)

also the integrated web browser works fine, though "open in new page" for links would be nice so i can browse multiple websites as with the normal safari. got a torrent from a website, it just was a bit confusing to add because i first thought you can just click the download link and that's it (which didn't work), but i had to copy the link and then paste it in the list to add and then say "download and send file" (maybe it just was because of the website where i got the torrent, don't know). anyway not really an issue, once you know that it's absolutely ok.

just one real issue i found so far:
auto-refresh rate does not work. i set it to different values but it always just does refresh once and then never again.
I am Q

I don't work at QNAP.
And RAID is really NO backup!

Hi,

Thanks for your report :)

For the "one click download", it should work if your file ends with ".torrent". It should find automatically that it is a known file type to download. If it's something else, then you will have to copy/paste.

About the multiple web pages, I won't do that for several reasons: it's a lot of work to "match" Safari, and it will never be as good. The other option is for my application to "register" for magnet links or ed2k links, so that when clicking in Safari, it launches my application with the link. I think that would be a nice option. I will add "bookmarks" in next version though.

About refresh rate, I will have a look, thanks.

Jerome

Downloaded, installed and voted 4 stars for the app!!

Is still not perfect, but its a great start.

Problems found:
Can't add http downloads.
(already report by Q) Refresh doens't work.

Improvements:
The labels "Downloading/Paused/Finished" should be in color so that can be differentiated at first sight.

Hi,

Thanks for your report.

What do you mean by "can't add http downloads" ? When you click on a link to a zip file, it does nothing ? I would need more details.

About the refresh, I've logged the issue, and I'll fix it for next version.

And finally, about the labels, you mean the titles of each section ? I can try to change the background to be a little more visible.

Thanks,
Jérôme

I tried to add to download file extensions (.dmg) with http protocol without luck.

Yes, I mean the titles of each sections in the "List of Downloads" page, those 3 labels would need more contrast or a different colour.

Btw, it's a very cool and useful app, keep going on dude!

G'day Jerome,

I just installed the iPhone app however I'm having a few issues with it.

Initially it won't connect to the NAS (get a "cannot contact server" error), however if I then close the app, start Safari and refresh a page and close it, then start the QGetMobile app again it will then connect. Also, it will connect via http but it won't connect using https (I can confirm that I can connect to the NAS remotely via https using my browser on the iphone or work PC).

Is there something I'm doing wrong or missing?

Thanks for the great app by the way.

Cheers,
Serge

Hi,

The initial "cannot contact server" may be due to the fact that your QNAP is probably sleeping... Could you check that ? If yes, then I will have to find a way to wake it up.
About the HTTP/HTTPS issue, can you tell me if you clicked on the "http" button so that it displays "https" ? If yes, it should work fine. This is how I connect to my NAS.

Jérôme

The NAS is definitely awake as I have accessed it immediately prior to using the QGetMobile app and still get the initial connection error message. Also, I can confirm that I did change the button to https and put in the correct port number when trying the https connection.

For the not connecting problem is seems the app doesn't know there is an internet connection (I'm using 3G to connect). Once I use safari it then connects fine (except for the https issue). Also I have found that if I leave the app idle for a while (iPhone goes to lock screen), then unlock the screen to get back into the app it has lost the connection and I need to close it and start the process again to connect (start safari, close safari, start QGetMobile).

Perhaps there is a setting on my iPhone that needs to be changed?

Thanks,
Serge

Hi,

I have never experienced such issues !

Which iPhone are using ? Can you try to see if it's the same problem over Wifi ? Maybe it's just a "delay" and you can just launch QGetMobile and wait, or wait before launching it.

If you still have issues with the HTTPS, would it be possible for you to create a test account for me on your NAS, so that I can try to see the problem ? If yes, you can send me information to dev@patey.net

Jérôme
