pyLoad How-To

Note: There is a pyLoad forum and a QPKG plugin now: viewforum.php?f=232

Hi everyone I would like to present a little tutorial how to install pyLoad on your qnap.

just one sentence about pyLoad: It supports all common one click hoster, has many other features and is lightweight enough to run on minimal systems. More information can be found on the official page http://pyload.org

Requirements:
  • SSH access
  • Optware IPKG

Step 1: Prepare
Install the Optware QPKG Plugin.
In case you have installed the Python QPKG Plugin you have to deinstall it, because it will conflict later.

Step 2: Install needed tools
Login at your QNAP and execute this code.
Code: Select all
ipkg install wget tesseract-ocr tesseract-ocr-lang-eng ossp-js unrar

Step 3: Get pyLoad
Code: Select all
cd /opt
wget http://get.pyload.org/get/ipkg
ipkg install pyload-v0.4.9-noarch.ipk
rm pyload-v0.4.9-noarch.ipk

You can start pyLoad simply with:
Code: Select all
pyLoadCore

When you do this the first time you should see a configuration assistant.
Make sure to enable the webinterface, because its the easiest way to access pyLoad remotely. Over the webinterface you are able to do more configuration and add premium accounts.

Step 4: Run pyLoad (as daemon)
You have to start pyLoad in background or it will be closed as soon as you logout from your box. Since version 0.4.3 pyLoad has a builtin daemon mode.
Code: Select all
pyLoadCore --daemon

You can quit pyLoad with;
Code: Select all
pyLoadCore --quit

I hope this helps you to run pyLoad on your box. Dont hesitate to ask any questions here or at the pyLoad forum.

Best regards
RaNaN

Hello,

Thanks for the tutorial.

I have another question though. Can someone explain me how to launch it at the startup of the NAS?

I tried to add it to startup scripts in the ramblock as I usually do (following the instructions found in http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Running_Your_ ... at_Startup), but it doesn't work.

I expect it to be related to the fact the Python & PyLoad are in the /opt directory, and they may not be easilly accessible during the startup.

Any idea to work this out?

Thanks in advance,
idefx

i tried me too but the result was the same...didn't work by editing autorstart.sh
i though that, if i need to load MU links in pyload probably i've my pc powerd up so i prepared a fast link to putty.exe to start manually pyload.
but if you find a method to autostart i will try for sure!!!!

thanks regards

Yes, when you foward port 9666 from you local PC to your NAS, and use the FlashGot setting for JDownloader.

You need to enable ssh and login with Putty, then follow the tutorial, but some basic linux knowledge would be helpful.
