Since you are in the software business then you would have allready knew that when a program is released (open source or not) the rights belongs to it's author, and it is illegal to decompile without the permision of the author. As I have allready posted, I will release the source when I will not have time to maintain it. Since then it will not be so bad to respect my decision. This is something that I made just for my own needs, a user here asked me if I could post it and I did! If someone wants my help about the techniques I used all he has to do is just ask.

I don't mind anyone making any application that could be better than mine and taking my place since I don't make any profit of it. As I mentioned in previeus posts, Qnap could add a multidownload functionality to ther Qget and no additional apps would be needed then.

If you want to help the "community" then why don't you try to release the source code of your programs? Maybe when it comes to your code the ideas of leaving everything unprotected will change. Anyway this thread is just for bug reports and feature requests. If you want to talk about programming etc then start a new thread, and I will post there if asked, don't bloat here with stuff that users don't need.

TigerShark wrote:Lighten up, will ya? It's not rude to take a look at other's work... You think it's rude to take a look inside the engine of your car?

All I did was run it through Reflector, which by the way is possible to do by anyone who are interested in learning. Every great developer is "stealing", as you so eloquently put it. Why reinvent the wheel

If your tool was commercial and you made a living out of it, I would of course not have posted in this thread... But most new developers (at least with .NET) seem so eager to protect their "intellect" instead of just providing their knowledge to the community.

In my experience there's no need to obfuscate or even protect your source. If someone want's to make an even better application than the one you did, they will... Trust me...

But as you might already know, you're still the only one who have made such a, if I may say, great tool, which of course practically everyone with knowledge about .NET and programming in general could have made (no criticism - most great tools are simple!).

Just keep in mind that if you provide the stepping stone and don't keep up, others will most certainly take your place - decompiled or not ;)

BTW, isn't it time for an update :)

Though I have found a problem I can't work out what is happening with.

I've tried to setup a special directory for my wife to use for downloads, so in the QRapid initial settings screen, I've tried the following...

\Qdownload\Other
\Qdownload\Other\
\Public
\Qusb
\Qusb\

and the files always download to \Qdownload regardless of the paths I enter.
btw I've made sure that all of the directories have been created before downloading.

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong??? or is this a bug?

That was a bug and fixed on version 1.0.2.0

Hi Kosdian,

I exposed my qnap TS409 via internet, SSL port 443 which is the same as port 8080, both used for qnap administration except secured version. My main usage of download station is when I'm in the office, well It is tiring to put the rapidshare url's one by one using qnap download station, but Im doing it anyway, gets the job done through irritating (Yes QNap it is irritating, try blue ray rip movies 100+ links, I feel like a low life form freak (",) it is supposed to make life easier, not even saving the user and password).

Anyway, I tried to connect using QRapid but it's not working. Is it possible to support this? Take note that the certificate provided by qnap raises warning in browsers, must suppress that.

Thanks.

@rico_alejando
This should be something that could be added easily... I'll try to fix it, stay tuned :wink:

@vicqua
Sorry I haven't tested with the TS 509 model, but since it uses the same download manager there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe another user here that has 509 and tried QRapid can confirm this.

Can anyone tell me why wouldn't DLstation work before and because we've recently updated the underlying download engine and it now should support downlooad URL that doesn't contain the filename directly.

Can anyone show me what a Rapidshare download URL looks like?

Thanks

Andy

This problem was already reported from the beta version. I believe QnapAndy is already working on that issue. I think this issue is caused by the new version of wget. More info here.

Correct, cuz the new wget is a bit different from the previous one. We have already found the solution and doing some testing now, should be available in the next updated firmware. And you probably wouldn't need to use QRapid to download things from RapidShare, simply use Download Station or QGet, and it's all set.

But QRapid can do batch download, still a good stuff tho. (Thanks, kosdian)
