Add RSS feed failure.

Postby tarokdk » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:18 pm

I have a QNAP SS-839 with the newest firmware (3.7.2 Build 20120719). I have encountered a rather strange bug with the download station and its RSS Feed feature.

Now first of, I have used the download station for a long time with no problems, had 4 RSS feeds and a handful of RSS Feed Download rules, that worked fine.
A couple of weeks ago, i right clicked the "All Feeds" and selected "Update RSS Feeds", after that they all disappeared, and I haven't been able to add RSS Feeds after that.

When I add a RSS Feed in the download manager, I type the url, and lable. After I complete a short "Applying" message comes, and then nothing happens. They don't show up.

I can the access the download station through the QGET app on my ipad and see them RSS feeds, but not on the download station through a browser.

Just to get ahead of all the "use a valid RSS feed" and such, I'm using a valid RSS feed!

I have tried Firefox and Internet Explore from 3 different computers, located 3 different places in the "world". Same result, can't add RSS feeds to the download manager, only through the QGET app on my ipad.

I found a rather similar post on the forum, that got solved with going from using dynamic assigned IP on the NAS to static. I also tried that, and still same result.
I even tried to turn off the download station, rebooting the NAS, and then turn it on again.

Any thoughts on this bug?

Same Problem here!

In my case, its the first time that I want to add a RSS feed. I never tried that before. Nothing happens after typing the url and lable. When I enter a feed on my Ipad (Qget) the feed is visible on the Ipad but neither in the browser nor in the Qget app for my android I can see anything.

My FW is 3.7.3.

Any progress on this Problem??

Everybody awae RSS feeds can just contain feeds providing Torrent files - no direct downloads?

Then - an example of a feed link would be useful. In attempt to answer similar requests, we have found some RSS feeds which are not added to the Download Station at all, indeed.

See here for exmple: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=61665

Hi, thanks for your reply,

of course I have tried several feeds without luck.
e.g. http://bitreactor.to/rss/latest_eng_noalt.xml

can you provide a working feed because none of mine worked, so I can check if it is my fault.

thank you!

Not your fault... Check ie. eztv.it or TPB for working RSS feeds.

Thanks schumaku. these feeds from eztv.it worked for me. It's a pity that the download station only accepts SOME feeds and not those I am intended to use. :(

Hey,

i seem to have the same issue on my qnap 412.
I could use eztv feeds in the past, but suddenly that feed is gone and I can't add it again.

Any help would be good.

Yeah, I don't get what the difference is between a working feed and a failing feed. I can add a TBP feed, but not any of the legit ones I am trying to use.

As there appears to be no solution for this problem, can someone point us to documentation on how it should or does work? Thanks.

It does not work, entire point of this thread.

Bump.

Yes, clearly this function does not work as expected. I guess documentation is the first step to understanding if it is actually broken or if I'm doing it wrong. Beyond that, it would be good to see this get fixed to work as expected.

It seems like qnap put a lot of work into the download station functionality, but more and more I'm looking toward tossing it out the window and using Transmission instead.

I have noticed, using the Mac Qget client (rather than the web interface to the download client) that http:// RSS URLs will allow me to click the "next" button, where an https:// URL does not.

Is this, perhaps, the difference between the RSS urls that work and those that do not?

One of them, yes. Quite a bunch of other issues with validated feeds.
