High CPU usage on Windows where QGet installed

Windows became unusable (extremely slow) some days ago.

I realized, that it caused by this issue: "High CPU usage by NisSrv since KB2754296 update"

Yesterday conclusion from a MS MVP: "QGet is incompatible with MSE v4.1.522.0"

Actually the running QNAP QGetServer.exe conflicts with MS NisSrv.exe.
So I had to uninstall QGet.

Solution:
- uninstall the slow MSE junk
- install Avast

Can't see a similar issue here with QGet and MSE ... neither on Win 7 (up2date, MSE since it's available) nor on Vista (MSE since closed Beta...) or on Windows 8 (with MSE integrated).

I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms on two machines and can therefore confirm that the problem exists. It is so bad that the PC's are virtually unusable with CPU percentage in the high 90's.

This is with Windows 7 Pro. QGet has to be connected to the QNAP service for the problem to show.

Closing QGet immediately lowers the CPU to it usual value.

Tried QNap versions 2.1.5.0702 and 3.0.5.1009 and it makes no difference.

Never had any problems until this last MSE update! Time to consider a change.

You might considering asking @ W7 Security Forum @ Technet or whatever.

Have been using Avast for years on Windows boxes, much faster and much more configurable. (Their Android version also rocks.) Also, you can report similar issues via avast! Forum - the developers {incl. their CTO) are very responsive there.

I have exactly the same symptoms and am happy to find this thread, because I didn't know that Qget was the problem.

My configuration:
- Windows Vista x64
- Firefox as browser
- MS Security essentials as Virusscanner

During browsing my CPU-load would go to 100% (caused by the process NisSrv.exe). Many times Firefox would even hang for a few seconds, which I found extremely annoying.
Disabling either the realtime protection of MS Security Essentials or Qget solves the problems.

Since I don't want to be without a virusscanner, I had to disable Qget.

Here is some work to do Qnap!

Afraid QNAP will not fix MSE. As posted above.

You can workaround this issue by configuring QGet to use secure connections (HTTPS).
