From my limited experience so far, you see the RC after the numbers in the Twonky version. I.E. if it were a release candidate, it should show as 4.4.4 RC . I'm not seeing this. It's showing purely as 4.4.4 in the image I posted.

"Epstein" who's comments I respect, indicated that it is the Twonky final 4.4.4 in the latest firmware release. This is why I had decided to go with the latest firmware release on my nas.

I plan on testing video playback today on my PS3 through the NAS. We'll see how it goes with the new firmware. From a PC perspective, the NAS is functioning nicely on the new official release firmware!

Earendil wrote:I, too CWave6k, get the same TwonkyMedia config screen. But where is the RC indication? The firmware explanation is here and an excerpt is below:
# Upgrade Joomla! to v1.5.1: CMS of PHP/MySQL-based web server hosting.

# Upgrade TwonkyMedia to v4.4.4 RC: Support DivX video playback on PS3.

# iTunes server supports password protection and smart playlist.
Are you saying the "most current firmware release" is the beta version? I wish to be sure before I use beta firmware and it's associated risk...

OK, it seems I didn't read the info in this forum good enough. There IS no beta out for the T-209 Pro so with the TS-209 Pro firmware v2.0.1 build 0324T, I have the latest firmware version. But why does it not say RC in the config screen when the release notes say so? Also it is with this latest firmware I am still getting TwonkyMedia to drop directories. Reading deeper into TwonkyMedia's unofficial forum (but linked to their website) seems there are a lot of people like me who are having problems with dropped directories and finding documentation and help.

I have another question. When I updated the firmware on my TS-101 a while back, I got some TwonkyMedia screen that showed the folders and files (I guess) stored in the media server's database. I had to edit an .ini file so I could get into the config screen through the 9000 port. How do I see that folder and file screen on either Qnap?

*bump*

I have been asking and perusing the TwonkyMedia forums and website but am getting absolutely nothing about how the media server puts things together in it's database and displays it through a media player. I would use the trial and error method except I need to run up and downstairs to see what the media player has when I have changed something on the media server. If I could access through the browser both the TwonkyMedia config screen AND the TwonlyMedia directory/file list then I could learn through trial and error much faster. All I currently get at http://my_NAS_IP_address:9000/ is the config screen. Certainly TwonkyMedia's "help" is a load of cr*p and no help whatsoever.

Dear Earendil
Sorry for no response.
I have Twonky's updated package of v4.4.4i on hand, and it will be integrated into the next coming beta release.
The current integrated 4.4.4 was the latest version we got at the moment we released the 2.0.1 0324/0416.

Same for TS-x01, the 4.4.4i will also be integrated into the coming beta release.
Cheers,

Thanks QNAPIvan. My Ziova CS505 has the ability to peruse the network shares if there is un-passworded guest access - something the Qnap's do. But it's by directory only and makes no use of the TwonkyMedia filtering capabilities. I figure the media server is there, why not use it?

I have a few of other oddities like:
  • The TS-209 Pro (current firmware version: 2.0.1 Build 0324T) TwonkyMedia server showing up twice on my Ziova but the TS-109 (current firmware version: 2.1.1 Build 0827T) TwonkyMedia server always shows up once, as it should.
  • Also, I was hesitant to use the network shares because it would not always be available (no access allowed) when accessing the TS-109 but it's always available when accessing the TS-209 Pro. Of course in both NAS's guest read-only access was enabled for the Qmultimedia directory.
  • Also I could never get access to Shoutcast through the TwonkyMeda server but fortunately I have Shoutcast available through the Ziova itself.
Like I said some odd things but it's things I can live with, for now.

I had the same issue whenever I restarted the NAS. None of my files or folders were displayed using TwonkeyMedia and I was also unable to see my own share in TwonkeyMedias configuration (using the browse-button on a Content Folder).

Apparently this is because I have all media-files placed in another folder than QMultimedia and have access restrictions on that folder. In order to get it to work again, you can do the following:

- Go into 'Network Share Management'. Give the group 'everyone' access to the share and immediatly remove the group again.
- Choose 'Rescan content directories' in TwonkeyMedia

There might be another way, but since this only happens if I restart the server and I don't do that too often I haven't investigated it further.

Hope this helps some of you.

Hi Guys, I've also had this problem for the last 3 firmwares. Currently TS-209 FW=Build 0624. This is getting very frustrating, the most basic of functions is a share and its still doesn't work. So what's the problem ? I also don't see why I should move all my files to the default. The function should work !!! and it is definitely a bug as many other people seem to have it.

The 4 directory deep issue is TwonyMedia's problem.

The fact TwonyMedia is fixed on Qmultimedia directory should easily be reconfigured in the the TwonyMedia's config screens.

Still I do not see what the database sees, only the TwonkyMedia config screen. I think this is something Qnap can fix in their software because PC versions of TwonkyMedia can see both screens.

Unfortunately TwonkyMedia has YET to answer any of my questions satisfactorily on their forums. Makes Qnap's support shine oh so much brighter. :)
