Can't connect my nmp-1000p to windows 7 pc

Postby mclulz » Wed Jul 11, 2012 5:40 am

So heres my problem:

I can find the NMP-1000p on the network with my win 7 pc. The NMP-1000p finds the win 7 pc on the network when searching. The win 7 pc can log in to the nmp-1000p, but it can't log in with a password and username so I can copy files into it. That problem got solved by using an FTP client. However, I can't log in to my win 7 pc on the NMP-1000p so I can browse the win 7 pc. I get either a wrong pw/username error or a login failure, please try again. I know my computer name is Mclulz and my admin account is Asgeir, and I know my admin password, I guess thats what I use to log in to my pc on the network.

The nmp-1000p is in the "NAS" workgroup, and my win 7 is in workgroup: "workgroup" Don't know if I should change that, I have no idea how to change the workgroup on the nmp-1000p though.

However, the nmp can access my macbook without a problem, just type username and password. And my macbook can access my pc, and my pc can access my macbook and the nmp, though without admin rights.

Any idea how to get proper access?

And another problem I have, I can't watch any videos from youtube on the NMP-1000p. And I can't log in to my youtube account. I have tried both my original youtube username and password, and my gmail credentials, nothing works.

Another problem I have is the DDNS service. I have made myself a domain and got everything set up in the DDNS service settings, however when I try to log in to the nmp-1000p via the internet I get prompted with a username and password, and I have tried everything I can think of that could have been the password and username. Any ideas?

For the NMP-1000P to access a win7 network resource, you have to upgrade your NMP-1000P to one of the later firmware versions. Basically, get the latest one off this forum. Then on your Win7 machine, everyone must have passwords.

The NMP-1000P defaults to WORKGROUP by default. You can get access to that setting via the web interface.

I set my DDNS on my broadband router, not on my NMP. You have to have a fixed internal IP address on your NMP for remote access to the NMP web interface. You may want to changed your default access port too. To improve security. You can do that via the web interface.

I have watched Youtube clips (once) a long time ago. I have not used the Youtube nor Google account features so I cannot help you there.

I think your issues could be related to your network settings.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, I have updated the firmware on the nmp. Great, I can now watch youtube videos on the nmp.

But I still can't connect to my win 7 pc from the nmp-1000p. What is wrong? The workgroup is the same, file sharing is turned on on the win 7 pc, its in home network, all the ip's are ok, admin and password I use are correct, network password protection is on on the win 7 pc, etc etc etc. I can connect to the pc from other devices, and I can connect to the nmp-1000p from the win 7 pc, and the nmp-1000p can connect to a macbook no problem.

So its not THAT of a big problem, I can connect to the nmp-1000p and transfer files over to it by ftp, but what if I want to stream from the computer, I can't do that now.

Can't see any issues with Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8 clients accessing the NMP-1000P shares - firmware installed is 1.2.3 Build 1003P. No, this has not changed recently or with this build - it worked for a long time, and still works.

Have configured the same username and password credentials you are using in the Windows 7 login on the NMP?

Common in Vista, 7, or 8: the network must be configured as a home or office network - otherwise these OS will not connect to SMB/CIFS shares for example.

However: Nothing tricky, no hacks, no security, or whatever changes required.

Always worked for me under Windows 7. Can you try accessing it from any other computer or device? See if it's working at all?

Btw. I have the same problem with OSX.
