Hi - sorry for the newbie questio, but.....

I have successfully installed openNMP on my NMP-1000 but can't get my TS-210 to replicate the files from the NMP. The menu options on the TS-210 seem to assume replication FROM the TS-210 TO another server. Can someone help me out?

Thanks,

Max

Hi Max-Walls

On the NMP:
1- Open OpenNMP and Enable the Remote Backup
2- Check the port is 873 and Press APPLY

On the NAS:
1- Create a new Replication job
2- Settings are:
NAS Server
<Name of your job (ex. SYNC_NMP)>
IP of the NMP
Port = 873
user name = admin
password = <pwd of the NMP not OpenNMP>
-> Do a TEST to check the NAS can access the NMP
Provide the folder name to sync on the NMP (ex. /Video)
Enter the Path to the NAS folder (eg a shared folder /MYVIDEO)
Schedule the sync
Check "Perform incremental replication" and "Delete extra files on remote destination" if you wanna sync the NAS content with the NMP (NAS-> NMP)

Despite the speed is not very high, I do sync my NAS content and my NMP at night.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, but I am still struggling!

The Settings on my TS-210 (screen shot attached) result in files from the TS-210 being copied to the NMS-1000, the opposite of what I need. On the plus side, open NMP seems to be functioning.... for clarity, my NMP is on 192.168.0.101.

The whole layout of the TS-210 config screen suggest remote replication to another server rather than the other way round. I can't get the b@"~~!y thing ro behave.

PLease help....

Max

Max,

We speak of replication - the only meaning of "source" and "destination" is defining the rsync initiator (source) and rsync server (destination). Files added on the NMP will be replicated to the NAS. Files added on the NAS will be replicated to the NMP:

Web UI wrote:Remote Replication
By using this function, you can back up the data on the local server to a remote server of the same NAS series, and also allow backup from remote server to the local server.

As described, some options only apply in one direction (e.g. Delete extra files on remote destination).

-Kurt.

PS. Adnovea, attempted launching an older sync job defines in v3.2.x on the actual v3.3 beta ... it does not seem to start, or finish immediately - but no time to investigate now.

I just finished installing opennmp and when I go to see if all the files are there they are. They match what the download folder show. When I go to log back in to my nmp I guess I am to simply add opennmp after my 8080: correct? I get nothing. Should I take out the internal hard drive? Just curious what the issue is here as I tried and installed opennmp twice already on a brand new usb drive that is more then fast enough. The folders on my nmp are: Download, Music, OpenNMP, Photo, Qweb, USB_DRIVE_A1, Video.

Any suggestions?

David.

Hi DavidDagenais,

  • Instead of the name (eg http://NMP-1000:8080/), try using the NMP IP address,
  • clear your web browser,
  • check there is no redirection on port 8080,
  • reboot
If it does still not work, maybe Lighttpd is not running !
Open a Putty console and check with
Code: Select all
ps | grep -i lighttpd
ps | grep -i php-fcgi

Try to start Lighttpd manually
Code: Select all
/opt/etc/init.d/S80lighttpd restart

Shall it fails, there was a problem during the installation, please look at the log created during the installation

Thanks for the advice.

-Currently trying to hit the nmp by indicating the ip instead of name that makes no difference.
-Tried using safari and firefox latest versions of both on my mac and also cleared cache but made no difference.
-all my nmp-1000 in the house have the managed port set to 8080 but as indicated above I am specifying the nmp's specific IP which has the usb stick with opennmp
-rebooted the nmp several times.

Currently when I log in to the nmp with the IP and port 8080 "which by the way I even changed to 8081 to test" I still only get the traditional nmp menu.

When I go to restart Lighttpd I get this:

2010-06-26 09:45:03: (network.c.345) can't bind to port: 8080 Address already in use

Any ideas?

After re doing everything, I went back and changed my service port to 8081. I then was able to restart the lighttpd service. Message was:

OFFICE[~]$ /opt/etc/init.d/S80lighttpd restart
Starting web server: lighttpd
OFFICE[~]$

When going in to Firefox, I changed my service port to 8081 but made no difference, typical NMP menu came up. Front of NMP does indicate Ready or sometimes NPKG ON. When the unit does reboot, you can hear a beep which is new as from the past it never beeped. I can also see the usb stick flashing.

Found the error.....

had 8080 for both web apps so when I changed the regular web app for NMP to 8081 I was just using 8081 and not 8080 as specified for openNMP.

Thanks for all your help. Now it's just a matter of seeing if opennmp will do what I need.... I basically just want to be able to view a live stream of my internet cameras. "all locally". Easy to do from any computer in the place, but if someone is using an nmp to watch a movie or something and they want to quickly see live footage of one of the network camera's I would like them to somehow be able to go to that URL to view.

if you have thoughts on this that would be great.

I'm using Putty and the 3 required files are copied to /share/Download.

What is wrong?

Took me ages to find this as I know nothing about unix....

Try chmod a+x installaer.sh

This makes the file executable.

Is the VLC plugin actually able to play vlc Streams? or is just a streaming station?

I have a tv content provider who gives me VLC stream of tv with 80+ channels and i want to be able to play it from the NMP.

Dear Deviltry,

The VLC package is provided AS IS (just retreived from the IPKG repo) and there has been nothing done with it but to extract the uPnP from GeeXboX.

The DVR must be able to support the RTSP and MMS video formats.
Whereas they are rtsp or mms unfortunaltely I found some streams that I cannot be read !

Dear Deviltry

If you want to code your own NPKG, there is a sample project provided with OpenNMP that gives an example.
NPKG was developed only for the NMP-1000 and will not be maintained in the future.
It was an Alpha project to enable package management with the NMP-1000 in order to add some (missing) features.
It may be useful to get familiar with the package management and the IPKG system.

If you are familiar with Linux, you can access all the libraries for the MIPS CPU using IPKG system installed on the NMP-1000.
