XBMC and MKV

Post by giugallo »

Hi,
I have a TS-269L NAS, connected via hdmi to my tv. I'm used to watch movies and tv series. I generally use xmbc and it works fine except when I try to play an mkv file. In this case the video is not really fluid, like for other formats. Anyone knows a way to fix this problem?
Thanks a lot

Kodi/XBMC should be able to play pretty much any 1080p mkv without any major issues (It even plays on rapsberry pi). Have you been tinkering with the video acceleration options by any chance?

I am having the same problems, what should be the correct settings in the acceleration tab?

kodi/xmbc should be fine for a lan setting.

but from what i heard if you want to step up and do streamin akin to say netflix style, then you'd need to use plex for that. which can either transcode or just stream the original file quality. but your internet has to be good to use this feature effectively without stutter and lag :/

for local network using say dlna wireless broadband ac would be fine

Changing to another program does not fix the problem. I have setup xbmc with a lot of add-ons (for example connection with trakt.tv) therefore i dont want change to another program. Furthermore i have a nas connected with hdmi to my tv, so will not need plex.

not asking you to. just explaining one is better for streaming remotely compared to the other.
