controls needed. Samsung LCD to QNAP

Postby waninae39 » Sun Oct 25, 2009 6:01 am

Hello:

I have the latest beta s/w runing on my QNAP 209 Pro (TS-209_20090121-3.0.0)

My Samsung 46lnb750 can see the i/f on the qnap via uPNP. I can control access from the TV's remote

I have no problems selecting what to play, or playing them.
HOWEVER, i can only access two controls
Play and STOP

I can't find any means to do anything else from the TV's remote. Though there are many sutitbale buutons on the remote, the QNAp seems to only respond to the two latter commands.

Does anyone else have this issue?
I would like to be able to pause also do FF and REW , just like a std dvd. Other controls would be nice

please advise if i can add addtional functionality that can can be run from the TV's remote.

If so, how do i do so?

cheers

Hi,

I have the same problem with my Samsung LE32B650 with keys management in dlna

You can have more explain on the Samsung firmware restriction in this forum : http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-tele ... hread.html

I think that 750 in near of 650 but not sure ...

Some other dlna client restriction can be bypassed by using mod. firmware, the better flavor is the screen management (full screen and other screen display modes) ... this mod firmware works as well on my TV.

Due to some difficulty with twonky on my TS-219 ... I am going to use mediatomb ans ushare available thru IPKG.

(to know the compatibility between 650 & 750 search the name of your Firmware and compare to the name of the 650 one) ...

Hi,

small add-ons ...

You can test that keys work on yout tv by using the dlna server (under windows) provided by samsung ...

I don't use them as server, but to test fonctionnality and encoding supported by my TV.

I am going to used MediaTomb for this raison .... better support of keys ... and format ...

Second point, seems (I read a post but don't remember where ...) that you have to test with others keys for FFW and RWD try to use the standard direction key (right and left).

hi

i tried to check your links, but there are more that 150pages on that single forum topic.

can you please point to a specific link. i saw this one for the 650
http://newage.mpeg4-players.info/samsung/b650/b650.html
also, for the f/w mods, do they support any extra DLNA features more than play and satop

i have a LN46B750

Samsung's response to me was less than usefull, they just said, check the web site for updates.
however, their siste never tells you what the changes are in each update.

For the last month, i get error 606 when traying to check updates online from the TV. This used to work (;

The Newage mod on this page is for 650 Only, but the V1 version (bottom one) is also implemented to other model (75x etc.)
checkh yours on Samygo Page : http://samygo.sourceforge.net/

For V1 and V2 Newage mod. it's ONLY the screen display capability ... so Samsung for Dlna client offer 2 modes and for mpeg or dvd like only real resolution, so the Newage mod. add some other possibility
v1. add fit screen (= full screen) for all video
v2 add lot of screen resolution and format but it's code injection and it's available (now) only on B650 and 2004.1 firmware.

NO OTHER CHANGE are done by this mod.

BUT change are done by Samygo Extension ...
The problem with dlna client in Samsung TV it's they only support a few number of video format and depends of level of serveur (Twonky for ex. don't manage keys in 4.7 vers.). BUT the TV media player in Samsung TV is able to manage LOT of format and encoding and keys ... but the delivery only permit media player to run on usb (MSC) key or disk ....
The solution offer by Samygo (and it work (I used them)) is
use of djmount a program able to mount any upnp media server as linux file system (as NFS or Samba) so for Qnap this module is able to mount /share/Qmultimedia/media-dir_for_twonky as a local directory ... second the mount is done as a pseudo usb key ... so you can see your share as a usb disk and use TV media player to read the files ... and play more and more format and use keys to stop, pause, ff, etc.
it do the same things for NFS and Samba share ....

So you skip dlna client but use dlna serveur .... and lot of restrictions are go out.

All is explain in wiki (Samygo) .... have fun.

It is possible to get the play- and pause-button to work by renaming the media files to *.mpg .
Doing this, the FForward and FRewind might also work ... sometimes.

The twonky devs say this workaround should be included in the twonky server release version 5.1.1 (not RC).
So hopefully this version gets into the new 3.2 qnap firmwares.

So sorry I don't check the LN .... but verify the name and version of your firmware ... if it's the same than another model (T-CHEAUSC ver. 1012.3) for ex.) .. It must run and be patched ... search line LNxxB650

If fact lot of LCD used the same firmware, diff are for ex. frequency supported (240 I suppose for 750)... When you run the patcher (only change a string in a rc file) it test if the firm. is a good one and don't patch in other case.

I've also tested the SamyGO-Extensions,
could it be that it will not show big media files >2GB from the twonky DB?

There is no problem with "normal" USB connections with NTFS drives.

Hi,

I have to check, but seems it's a vfat limitation ... I don't have the problem, because I use NFS, so it's ext3 file system ...

I write a post on samygo and see wath it's possible to do to bypass the problem.
