Mounting ISO Image

Postby rhaines » Fri May 18, 2012 10:38 pm

Couple of questions...

First and not really related to my issue: Does QNAP monitor this board? I posted a question a week ago and haven't had a response. Seems strange.

Second: What's the best way to mount and play a DVD or Blu Ray ISO image located on a QNAP NAS (In my case a 469 Pro)? So far, I've only done it by mapping a network drive to the image, mounting and then playing. It worked, but there were multiple spots where it lagged froze up temporarily and then resumed.

Thoughts? Suggestions would be very welcomed.

Thanks,

R

Monitor yes - ensure each post is answered - no way.

Not ften making use of BD or DVD ISO for playback as it's not flexible enough. What media player is used, and what network connection?

Thanks for your reply Schumaku. My network connection while on private network is 1GB. I'm open to using whatever media player will work. The media player I was using when I had the issue was Total Media Theater 5 by ArcSoft. Also, I'm open to suggestions on what the best way to store and play backed up movies.

Your in the wrong section this is for mobile devices.

Also you don't need to mount ISO images, just use a media player on your computer with native ISO support and load the file directly into it like XBMC or VLC. If you still get buffering try turning on jumbo frames on your PC's network card and the NAS or look at using NFS instead of SMB to access the NAS, though I'm not sure if XBMC's NFS client is available on the Windows version.

Most Media Player solutions based on XBMC can play ISO files directly (without mounting them).
