HTTPS / SSL

Postby Frank_Toronto » Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:26 pm

Hi,

I am also using my QNAP iver the internet and also share some media like music with friends
However they user their own accounts
I would like it when they also do access my Qnap (TS-659P+) by the use of HTTPS or SSL

Unfortunatly i tried several things asked to other users; They said
just turn on HTTPS of SSL and use it

I also managed the ports on the router

But i can not access my qnap from outside with HTTPS or SSL

Can someone give me a kind of quick set up description of what to do so all
QNAP users from outside will be connected by HTTPS or SSL

I already like to thank you all for writing/sending me the solution

Kind regards

If you still have the default configuration for your web services SSL for your Apache webserver is configured for port 8081 (not the de facto standard 443, not to be mistaken for the 443 used by the Admin GUI which uses a different webserver), so people need to access it like;

https://yourpublicip:8081/MSV2

You also need to forward port 8081 to your QNAP to get things going.

Alternatively, you could switch the Admin SSL access to 8081 and the Apache SSL to use 443 (like normal webservers do) so it will work like this;

https://yourpublicip/MSV2

Ps. You can find the Apache port settings under Network Services>Web Server
