TS-419P+ seems to restart

Postby joffs » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:54 pm

Hi,
I have just bought a 419P+ and Im trying to use it as a isci target for a win 2008 r2 server. But when I start to copy larger files, over 100Gb it drops the conections. The log in the QNAP says:
2011-03-09 29 13:15:52 System 127.0.0.1 localhost [RAID5 Disk Volume: Drive 1 2 3 4] Start resyncing.
2011-03-09 28 13:13:20 System 127.0.0.1 localhost [RAID5 Disk Volume: Drive 1 2 3 4] The file system is not clean. It is suggested that you run "check disk".
2011-03-09 27 13:12:44 System 127.0.0.1 localhost System started.
2011-03-09 26 13:12:43 System 127.0.0.1 localhost The system was not shut down properly last time.
2011-03-09 25 11:38:24 System 127.0.0.1 localhost [RAID5 Disk Volume: Drive 1 2 3 4] The file system is not clean. It is suggested that you run "check disk".
2011-03-09 24 11:38:02 System 127.0.0.1 localhost System started.
2011-03-09 23 11:38:01 System 127.0.0.1 localhost The system was not shut down properly last time.

Any ideas on how to solve this?
I have upgrader the firmware to 3.4.0 Build 0212T and have shut down all other services. All powersavings are off.

Hi Joffs,

Thanks for your feedback, I'd like to know if this situation occurred in previous firmware version or just happened after you upgraded 3.4 firmware?
Our testing team are now verifying this problem, please let me know if you have any further information.

Hi,
I don't know. It's brand new. but I will download the the former firmware and try again. I saw that some peole had problems with the wd green disks, and that's the ones I have. I will do some more testing tonight with smb share and large files. and also try with other disks. But I will have to clear the qnap first and thats in progress right now.

I can confirm that I have a similar problem. The unit restarts when I am trying to create / delete or put online a iscsi target. Its seems to reboot...

Same here on my QNAP TS-210 SINCE(!!!) Update to 3.4.0 Build 0212T!

The reboot problem happened 3-4 times since update to 3.4.0, never happened before!

In my case, the problem has nothing to do with iSCSI (service is disabled) but it happens unexpected! Also when there is no access to the device, for example in the night, sometimes like today (see log) also during the day with absolut no access to the QNAP at the time of reboot!

Hi have now downgraded and the nas is working fine with the same disks. So I guess it's the firmware.

TS-669 Pro restarted randomly

Postby dhaman3 » Mon Aug 20, 2012 2:57 am

I have a TS-669 Pro firmware version 3.7.3 Build 20120801 I just purchased the QNAP and all i am using it for is iscsi targets for my esx server running vsphere 5. I have 6 western digital 500GB Enterprise drives WDC WD5003ABYX-01WER01.0 in a raid 5 configuration. I was performing some maintenance on my Esx host and needed to reboot it. I tried to access my qnap and it was rebooting. I did not do this, all the log states is that "The system was not shut down properly last time" I don't know if this is iscsi related but this is very strange behavior. I have had the Qnap for 3 days so I cannot attest to whether this happened in teh previous firmware or not since the first thi ng i did upon configuring teh Qnap was upgrade the firmware. Anyone have any clues as to what could cause this random reboot. I spent over 1000 dollars for this device, I wouldn't expect to have something this expensive have a random reboot issue. If this is the case I will be returning it and going for a much more proven solution such as an EMC product. Please advise .
Also I read on some forums here that users had this issue when they hda an UPS connected , I have a APC Backups xs 900 which is on the comparability list.. I have since disconnected. Could someone please advise
