TS-469U RP USB 3.0 WD Red

Post by agrob80 »

Good Day

Is it possible to connect an WD Red Drive (WD40EFRX) in a USB 3.0 case to the NAS System? Does it recognize the disk ntfs formatted with the whole capacity?
The goal is to use this external disk as backup with internal backup app. Need a 7x24 Disk because backup should run about every 1-2hours and copy new data to the external disk

thanks

Yes
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Why on earth use NTFS as a backup destination? Do you run backup or data export for portability?

why ntfs?
i use "backup station" > "external drive" to copy new data written to the nas to the external usb disk several times a day. if something happen to the nas, i can just plug the usb disk to a windows workstation and work with data from there...

That's data export, not backup.
