Ram Upgrade on TS-459 Pro+

Post by cnavas101 »

Hello everyone,

I've been searching on the forum for a while now (maybe not good enough, lol) and I can't find the model ram module to upgrade my TS-459 Pro+
I read on this forum that the Kingston KVR800D2S5/2G works, but when I ordered it and tried to install it... it didn't fit in the socket (the little indentation on the ram was in the wrong spot).
I found out that they sent me the KVR800D2S6/2G instead, but they said the the module is physically the same as the KVR800D2S5/2G.

So which is it?? :-/

My IT supervisor in France also has the TS-459 Pro+ and told me that he successfully upgraded its ram.
I tried getting the model/info from him, but he's on holiday at the moment.

Are there more than one brand of ram that I can upgrade the TS-459 Pro+ with?
If so, please let me know.

I really appreciate it!

Thanks,

CN

According to the specs sheets, the mark cut (defining the operation vaoltage AFAIK) is at the same place for both modules listed:

Maybe you're trying to insert it the wrong way, with the backside towards where the outside should be?
RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!

i am not sure what's my ram type, but will be opening it soon to check. my current model comes with 1-gb of memory and i'd like to upgrade it as well to 4gb if i can help it.

this guide says i can upgrade to 2-gb...
