I have a 419p with 4 2tb drives running raid5 in it. I have a bad drive that i need replace. Can i replace it with a 3tb drive without messing up the raid? If so any suggestions on which drive to get?
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can but you won't be able to use the additional 1 TB until all disks in the RAID 5-volume are 3 TB. Remember that:
The storage capacity of a RAID 5 array is equal to (N-1) * (size of smallest hard drive). N is the number of hard drives in the array.
Any disk that is on
the Qnap disk compatibility list for your NAS model should be okay. Personally I prefer Hitachi as I think they've had the best track record for compatibility over the last couple of years.
No, RAID has never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups you will eventually lose data!
