Qnap TS-459 Pro II and USB Drive problem

Postby nbillis » Wed Jun 27, 2012 5:38 pm

Hi everyone
I've got an TS-459 Pro II and I have a problem. I pluged in a USB drive with files on it at the back usb and now the drive is not regognize at Windows. Without asking me the NAS formated the drive and created 4 partition EXT4 and one RAW as I can see from the windows disk management. What can I do in this case?
Thank you.

It would be truly terrible if that had happened but to be honest I have some doubts that was what really happened.

It does sound more like you at some point could have installed it in an internal NAS disk bay.

If you live dangerously and don't have backups of your data, a disk recovery software and a lot of work may help you get some of the data on the disk back.
No, RAID has never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups you will eventually lose data!
