[Defect] QNAP Turbonas TS-459 Pro II

Postby aprate » Thu Jun 28, 2012 6:48 pm

hey all,
I've a QNAP Turbonas TS-459 Pro II im very liking this nas.
But now an hardware fault(?) occurred, i've made a short video on youtube:
http://youtu.be/sVRzdoZe5-I

Someday i wanted to access my nas but i couldn't.
So i looked over the nas and it was turned off, i'm using a time schedule with powering on/off the nas.
Maby it didn't turn on this time? I pressed the power button but nothing really happened; Plugged out the power cable and waited a few,
plugged it back in but then it happend of the video, the nas does this over and over again it's not booting at all.
It's not like it is in a loop orso but time over time(on different times) its trying to boot but it can't.

Until some day i tried pressing the reset button and the power button at the same time and holding them, well it started i could fill in the start page again.
QNAP Finder also found the nas now, so maby it was fixed. Until step 6 it went smooth but then it fell out again.

Anyone knows what to do with this ? Or should i just send it back to the vendor, any thoughts ?

Ye, looks like a hardware issue. Two year of warranty - check with the reseller for the warranty process in place in your area.

It could be a hard drive failure. If you reset system and it booted but failed on step 6 (it could be a disk issue)

If a hdd fails the NAS wont boot. (it happened to me just this week)

you could try unplugging all disks and see if nas boots at all, if it does, then just insert disks one by one until you find the faulty disk (if it is a faulty disk)

Then dont select any configuration for disks on the steps to reconfigure nas if you do it will format the disks and you can loose all data.

good luck either way, looking at the video mine didnt do that at all.
