Problems getting my Canon MP540 to run with SANE

Hello,
I'm facing the same problem with my Canon MP250.
When I use the command

Code: Select all

scanimage -T

I receive the error

Code: Select all

scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O

.
The scanning operation seems to be very slow : spends a lot of time between the following line:

Code: Select all

scanimage: acquiring RGB frame

and the error message

Code: Select all

scanimage: acquiring RGB frame
scanimage: min/max graylevel value = 255/0
