Hi,
I have 2 Synology's (DS710+, DS212+) and one Qnap TS 239Pro. All with the latest firmware.
I tried to connect a APC Smart-UPS 750 to QNAP and Synology by USB which works great. The problem is that the UPS server-function is not communicating with the other brand NAS.
For example:
Synology DS212+ Master <--> Synology DS710+ Slave = OK
Synology DS212+ Master <--> QNAP TS239Pro Slave = NOT OK
QNAP TS239Pro Master <--> Synology DS710+ Slave = NOT OK
QNAP TS239Pro Master <--> Synology DS212+ Slave = NOT OK
Is there a way to get this working using UPS-Server functions?
I have connected all NAS to the UPS and I need this function badly...

Re: [UPS] QNAP and Synology don't communicate
After some searching in the hart of the QNAP, I found that the user(name) of /mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/ups/ups.conf on the QNAP-NAS and on the Synology /usr/syno/etc/ups/ups.conf are different:
Synology (Slave):
[ups]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
QNAP (Master):
[qnapups]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = /dev/ttyS1
desc = "Workstation"
pollinterval=1
With a command from a Syno I can get info from QNAP:
Is there a nice way to add the standard Syno user to the QNAP configuration?
Synology (Slave):
[ups]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
QNAP (Master):
[qnapups]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = /dev/ttyS1
desc = "Workstation"
pollinterval=1
With a command from a Syno I can get info from QNAP:
Code: Select all
upsc qnapups@<QNAP-IP>

What "standard user" are you talking of here? This Syno config shows a (USB) UPS HID connection, not a slave.

Re: [UPS] QNAP and Synology don't communicate
Hmm, I changed on my Syno the file /usr/syno/etc/ups/upsmon.conf (changed ups@... to qnapups@...)
Restarted the Syno UPS monitor service with:
And my Syno communicates with his QNAP buddy!
I don't know if it will survive a firmware-update or even a reboot, though.....
We'll see....
Code: Select all
MONITOR qnapups@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx monuser secret slave
Restarted the Syno UPS monitor service with:
Code: Select all
upsmon -c reload

Re: [UPS] QNAP and Synology don't communicate
Working for me in the same way. Great work. Thanks!
@QNAP,
To improve the interworking between diffrent devices it's maybe better to change the name back to "UPS" from "QNAPUPS" - or make it changable via the GUI.

Re: [UPS] QNAP and Synology don't communicate
Hi,
returns:
But the UPS seems not being suppoted anymore.
Unfortunately it seems that since the last DSM update (DSM 5.2-5565 Update 2) this very useful trick isn't working anymore. I can't figure why: the qnap is still recognized (upsc qnapups@<QNAP_IP> is working fine), but by the DSM itself (in web interface it is claimed that the connexion to the UPS server is not possible).qnappekop wrote:Hmm, I changed on my Syno the file /usr/syno/etc/ups/upsmon.conf(changed ups@... to qnapups@...)Code: Select all
