Sorry got this wrong on the first part.
Anyway I dont understand why is relevant?
Hi
I was just pointing out that for one NAS model the Qnap compatibility list does show that disk as being tested (so at odds with what WD claimed in their response) whereas with the other NAS model the entire 3.5" disk list is missing. I was just highlighting these two discrepancies such that Qnap (and Qnap owners) can be made aware if them (and hopefully someone at Qnap can address them).

Did anyone else check if this also works for the WD40EFRX on a QNAP?
Load cycle count showing as 1073 in 51 hours on power on time here.
My old 3TB RED drive was about 50 in 9 months of use.
Looks off to me. Hope this can be address through a firmware update from QNAP.

It surely can not.
As far as I got this from older posts here in this forum and also in other forums where this issue is discussed, the only way to fix this is a firmware update that is provided by WD for those drives.
As an alternative, you could use wdidle3 to tweak some settings in the WD40EFRX Reds as decribed by tombulum here.
Yes I can confirm that this happens on the Netgear Readynas units as well.
I have also read posts on the Synology forums about it.
So essentially these drives, marketed for NAS use, do not work properly in three of the major NAS manufacturers' units.
Time for a product recall or an urgent firmware fix WD.

Hello TheRooster2000,
Can you tell us your WD Red 4TB HDD firmware version and part number?
Does it happen on all of your Red 4TB? how many?
I'll ask our lab to use our Red 4TB on hand and run it for a week to monitor the LCC issue.
