Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
I have had this issue three times or so with my TS-219P II with 2 x Hitachi HUA722020ALA330 drives in RAID1.
The following steps have worked well for me:
1. Power down
2. Reseat the disks (remove and insert the disk again)
3. Power on
Rgds

Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
This issue just occurred to me, the system shut down mid way running Kodi and once it restarted the error message appeared on my HDMI-connected screen (photo attached).
The system generated two long beeps (1.5sec each apart) after finished booting, all LEDs on front panel appears to be fine, backdoor access through web interface is offline.
I have tried re-seating the Disks but it hasn't worked.
My system:
TS-451 - 6 months old
HDD: 4 x HGST Deskstar NAS 6TB 0S03841 - 3 months old (supported and recommended)
RAID config: RAID5
Firmware: latest as of June 2016

It's me again. Well It turned out the NAS unit lost all its settings! Server name, password, IP address, etc.. have been reset. Plus every Hybrid Desk Station package deleted. I don't' know what could have caused this. It was always plugged into a power backup unit. Once I've relocated it again on QFinder and got an IP address, I was able to access it through web server. Re-synchronizing data now.

Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
This has just happened to my TS-451. Did you get your data back?? What did you do and how did you restore this?? I've found it in Finder and like yours - everything is reset, plus it was on a battery backup unit.

Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
Hi, I've the same Problem with my TS-253Pro!
The QNAP ist completely resetted to factory.
Only the Raid1 is working but I haven't a config- backup for the QTS.
Is there any config- File on HDD I can unse for recovery?
The QNAP is also connected to an APC- UPS and USB- monitored....

STDT5000100 seems to be a USB drive, can you recheck what drives you used ?

NAS's - RAID - HDD Brand - HDD Model
TS-219P II - Seagate - ST31000524AS
TS-219P II - Seagate - ST2000DM001
TS-212 - RAID1

TS-451
253Pro - RAID1
TS-253A/453A/653A/853A - Seagate - ST5000DM000
Affected hardware breakdown:
two HDD brands,
five HDD models,
two RAID types,
four QNAP NAS models,
some are running on UPS, some mentioned versioning others didn't, anyways from what I can gather it would appear to be specific (so far) to those NAS's above.
I was thinking might have been a HDD issue, what sticks out to me so far though is the NAS model range affected.
Without more specific information from all those involved such as
- QTS version,
- any Updates installed recently,
- RAID type,
- HDD brand and model,
- Log File information,
- OS (might be related to the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update, doubt it but..)

Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
The drives contained in the external USB enclosures are not NAS rated. They are Desktop drives meant to operate in your everyday run of the mill house-hold cheap computers. These drives will eventually and sooner than later fail on you, guaranteed (past personal experience and I knew this), still in an emergency until the NAS rated HDD arrives via courier it will work. I would let the RAID rebuild on the new desktop HDD then install the new NAS rated HDD and rebuild again.sereupin wrote:Hi, thank you for your helping..dolbyman wrote:STDT5000100 seems to be a USB drive, can you recheck what drives you used ?

I guess you could put the desktop HDD in the cupboard for an emergency cold spare for when one of the other desktop HDD's fail. You should really have another NAS rated HDD in cold spare though.

Re: Problem after power loss: "Hard Drive Missing"
Yes, you are right, those drives are not the best choice for a NAS, but it doesn't justify that I lose all my datas, or i am wrong?! They are broken both?dolbyman wrote:those drives are completely unsuitable for nas use ... bad choice
For the "best choice" I had to spend much more money, because the WD red was completely expensive compared to those hd.. anyway, it wasn't my choice, my father did a gift to me buying during the black friday in the USA for very cheap money both hd.. so I thought to use them..
