locked out my NAS.

Post by bid »

hi,
hope i m in the right forum.

first:
i have TS-469L 4 bays but with 2 HHD 3TB WD green, liner disk.

i made a mistake today and got myslef locked out my NAS.
i recently made my NAS accessible from outside my local network via SSH.

today i saw a lot of brute force attempts to login.
so i searched around and notice that in the security tab there is an option to create a white list of ips.

i enter my local network ip rang and press apply.
BUT i mistake and enter
192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.20
this is not my subnet
my network is on 192.168.0.0-20

is there a way to change login to the box without changing my router settings/reset to factory?

thanks.

Read the manual on performing a reset.
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

If reading the fine manual doesn't work, you might try using the Advanced search at the top of every page of the Forum to find one of the 13768 pre-existing messages about this issue.

Manually configure a computer interface to this other TCP/IP network address range, reconfigure the NAS, and revert the computer i.e. to DHCP or it's original settings. Much less work than a reset.

Good luck with this approach should you ever intend to access the NAS from remote, from a mobile App, ...

If you don't need SSH access from the outside world (ie. for ssh access or ssh'ed rsync) - consider to avoid the SSH port to the Internet on your router.

hi,

thanks guys, next time i will improve my search skill's before positing. (the forum UX is not that cool)
i reset (press for 3 seconds) that did the trick,
the other solution (if i understand it right) was to change the IP of another PC on the network, i didn't try it.

have a good day/night.
