[TS-439pro] SYSTEM BOOTING >>>>>>>>>>

Post by uberlord1337 »

Today my NAS suddenly rebooted after i added a torrent file.

When it was back up i checked the Logs and found a note that said something about file system errors. I checked the volume and it finished without an error.

When i tried to log back into the NAS after a couple of hours again i couldnt so i checked the hardware and the display of the NAS shows "mounting volume"...
After 30 minutes nothing changed. Still tried to mount the volume.
I shut it down hard disconnected the power. After a couple of minutes i switched it back on again and now it hangs at "SYSTEM BOOTING >>>>>>>>>>>>" for hours.....

wtf is happening? how can i solve that problem

Please provide Crystal Ball, or provide answers to the questions in article: When you're asking a question, please include the following.

Cutting and pasting the contents of your System Logs would also have been helpful. I would suspect a failed HDD, but so far only semi-useful bit of information shared is your NAS model.

Proceed as follows:
  1. Shutdown NAS
  2. Eject all 4 drives. (Don't remove them, simply eject them by 1"/3cm so they are disconnected from the SATA bus).
  3. Startup NAS
  4. Log into your NAS via SSH
  5. "Hot-plug" all 4 drives into the NAS
  6. Run the following commands:

    Code: Select all

    config_util 1
    storage_boot_init 1
    sleep 30
    mount
    df -h
    cat /proc/mdstat
    hdparm -i /dev/sd[a-d] 2>/dev/null | grep Model
    fdisk -lu
    #done

  7. Cut&Paste the output of these commands back to this message thread
Perhaps with this information in front of us we can actually help you.

I'm afraid if it won't even boot with all drives disconnected, then there is little the community can do for you. Please submit a ticket with the QNAP Helpdesk for further assistance.

Too bad, thanks anyway.

Support didn't help much. Wants me to send it to RMA.
i found another thread where a user has the same symptoms and he solved it by changing the PSU.
I will try that now.

If anybody is interested here is the thread http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=1 ... 5&start=30

Just to let you all know. I bought a new power supply - FSP-220-60LE

The system is booting fine now. I just have to adjust the cables now to get the harddisks running as well.

Happy again ;)
