Virtualization Station - USB support?

Post by wilsodg »

I have a windows application to monitor home energy usage. The data collector is a USB device, and it only works with windows (drivers). This is the last thing running on my windows server which I'd like to be able to switch off. I was hoping to be able to install VS on my 670pro [16gb ram and the i3370 upgraded cpu]. However, I have read (I think) that Virtualization Server has no USB support. Is this correct? Will Windows running in a VM be able to see a USB device? Is VS likely to get USB support if not available today?

Virtualization Station - USB support?

Post by wilsodg »

I never got round to install virtualbox, but did notice the VirtualHere USB package. I was wondering if it is possible to install the VirtualHere server on QTS and the VirtualHere client in the windows VM under Virtual Station?

Or does VirtualStation block / disallow even the VirtualHere USB driver?

Any thoughts on whether QNAP are likely to enable USB mapping to a VM with VirtualStation?
Installed and tested - it seems to work.
