TS-219P suddenly dead

Post by wapos »

My TS-219P is suddenly dead...
I switched off the qnap, pulled out the power adaptor and installed 2 new WD60EFRX drives and booted up the qnap.
The qnap stayed dead :-(
No ethernet led, no power led.
I measured the voltage of the adaptor (12V/5A) that one works.

Does anyone have bright idee's, to get my qnap alive again????

Get a new power adaptor? (Yeah, I read you measured it.)
I'm gone from this forum till QNAP stop wasting volunteers' time. Get help from QNAP helpdesk instead.

Hi Patrick, thank you for your answer, but i measured the adaptor and its output is 12v (with a high resistance multimeter :-( )
Do you still think the adaptor could be the problem?

Thanks for answering !

It is still the most likely cause. Test your HDD's using the manufacturers Diagnostics software, if you suspect that it is a drive issue instead. If the drives pass, then you are back to suspecting the PSU.

Try the following:

1. Put a different HDD in the NAS and check if it boots.
2a. If (1) failed, check for power supply issues or for NAS issues
2b. If (1) succeeded, try powering it up with one of your new HDDs (try both HDDs but one at a time).
3a. If both HDDs failed in (2b) this should be a NAS-HDD model compatibility issue
3b. If only one of the two HDDs fails then you have a seriously faulty HDD and consider replacement.
4. If using both new HDDs fails then this should be a compatibility issue

Keep us posted :)

Hello itscarlos,

thank you for taking youre time to answer my question...
But as i already wrote, the nas plays dead, meaning no leds are lighting, no fan is spinning.
Two minutes before with the old HD in it he worked (for 4 years now, with no problems) and now suddenly (after changing to new HDs) he does not boot anymore.
But, today is a new day, i wil call qnap.nl

Thanks
