Trying to determine which disks for my 870 Pro

Post by Wildcat_1 »

All
Using an 870 pro as home storage and media server and trying to figure out which drives to get for it. Thinking Raid 6 and would like to go with 4TB per drive or higher, also intrigued about the SSD caching thing. Normally I buy all drives from Amazon as you can't beat their customer service in my opinion but they don't keep the HGST ALE640's from a seller that gives the 3 yr warranty. This would mean buying from Newegg if going that route. I was also intrigued by the Seagate (concerned about this one) ST4000VN000 and the WD Red's. My concern about the WD's is the heat discussions and more importantly the Load Cycle Count (LCC). Is LCC still an issue on these drives in QNAPs ?

Don't want to cheap out on the drives but also trying to stay under the $200 per drive if possible

Any thoughts, suggestions etc are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
