eSATA and USB connection lost after update to 4.1.1

Post by ViZ!R »

hello,
I manage several customer's QNAP NAS
Two of them (one TS439PRO II and a TS219P+) have one external eSATA box each; the external units are two digitus da70525 (jmicron based).
The two NAS lost connection to external disks after update to 4.1.1. Rolling back to 4.1.0 restores the external disk mount.
Is there a way to get the firmware updated and external drives mounted? I'm thinking the driver for jmicron controller were removed from last development tree

  1. Which QTS 4.1.0 Build?
  2. Which QTS 4.1.1 Build?
  3. What Make/Model of drives are installed inside these eSATA drive enclosures?
  4. What type of filesystem did you place on those external drives? Ext3 or Ext4?

hello,
with QTS 4.1.0 20140612 they mount external eSATA box, while with QTS 4.1.1 20141003 they don't.
I'm pretty sure they worked with 20140916, but once installed 20141003 I had to downgrade (stepping through 20140927, 20140924 and 20140916) to 20140612 before getting external boxes working.
Drives in external enclosure are one WD40EFRX for TS219P+, and two WD20EFRX for TS439PRO II; all of them are EXT4 formatted.

just a downgrade to firmware 4.1.0 from 4.1.1 was the solution.

I learned: NEVER stitch on AUTO firmware upgrade on QNAPP !!!
New stuff is not worth the mess of unreliable updates.
