Hanging when copying files from TS119 to computer

Postby swessel » Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:14 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a TS-119 and computers with Windows XP. When I want to copy files from the nas to the computer, the action stops after a while. For example 280 of 400 files have been copied, and then the copy action stops. Then I click on the Cancel button and try it again. Sometimes it works, but in most of the cases it doesn't work. When I copy the files one by one, there seem to be no problems, but of course that is no solution.

When I want ot shutdown the computer, I get a message: "Windows is still accessing files. Wait until the action is finished or cancel the action before you shut down windows" (I translated this from German, I get one message box for every cancelled copy action). I first have to kill the explorer process before I can shutdown the computer.

I found the behaviour on all computers I'm using here. I also tried to change the network switch with no effect.
All devices (3 computers, an internet router, an network printer and the nas) have fix IP addresses. I don't that it has something to do with DNS, because I have the same behaviour when I use the IP addresses directly.

Thanks for any response.

Hello again,

I think I have found the reason for this problem:
I'm using "G DATA Antivirus 2009/2010" on all computers here. When I switch off the option to check network accesses, the problem disappears. Because all computers in my network have a virus protection, this is no loss of security.
Of course, it should also be possible to work with this option enabled, but that seems to be a problem of the virus scanner.
