Hi,
I'm on the verge of purchasing a TS-253A but am having last-minute concerns about the ability to pass through USB devices to VMs running on this model.
The following FAQ page states that "USB 3.0 devices must be connected to a USB 2.0 port":
https://www.qnap.com/i/uk/qa/con_show.p ... ne&cid=250
However, the TS-253A does not have any USB 2 ports - it has only USB 3 ports.
So, does this mean that USB 3 devices cannot be used at all with VMs on the TS-253A (even at reduced USB 2 speeds?). And what about USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices - can they be passed through to a VM when plugged into the TS-253A's USB3 ports?
I have some USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices which I will definitely want to pass through to VMs, including an old Creative Extigy (USB 1.1) sound board and an SDRPlay (USB 2.0) device. (There was an interesting post here http://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=298 about using the SDRPlay in a QTS VM, but in this instance the NAS was a T253 Pro and the device was plugged into a USB 2 port, not a USB 3 one).
Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks, David.

Looking for a answer on the same topic as it's a bit odd with missing support for USB v3.0 ports on the various NAS-units which doesn't have USB v2.0.

Re: USB3 passthru to VMs on TS-253A
Well, I haven't seen a problem in using USB2 through the USB3 ports, I've done that here. The challenge is currently that it does not perform as USB3.
There are currently some inconsistences in the configuration of the VM's, and USB3 settings appear incorrectly, but the USB2 still works.
I'll test it out again later, just to be sure.
