Permission problems since 3.7 firmware release

Questions about using Windows AD service.

Permission problems since 3.7 firmware release

Postby lpr1981 » Sun Jul 01, 2012 7:19 pm

I am running a QNAP TS-1279U in my work place. I hosts our VM servers and also hosts the folder shares for my colleagues with the company. All the file sharing is controlled by Windows AD, this has been running perfectly up to the release of firmware 3.7. It is causing me nothing but problems by dropping the permissions it's permissions for certain users for certain folders, usually my MD which is not good!!! I can refresh the permissions within the QNAP User Interface and access is the granted again for the user but only for a short amount of time.

I have noticed that Windows ACL is now an option since the release of 3.7 but I have kept this switched off because I prefer controlling the permission on the QNAP UI.

Any ideas?

I have tried to regress the firmware through the QNAP UI to 3.6.1 but it will not allow me to do this.

Have you tried applying the qfix after 3.71?

I have now tried the QFIX patch be it would not install, it would get to about 45% and fail.

Bet it installs - but the service are not restarted...

You can try to run the .qfix from the NAS Linux shell (as admin of course) - simple copy it to a share, and run it like

[~] # ./share/Public/qfix_20120622_x86.qfix
...

You can run the start script in debug mode - and check what is going wrong, or where it's hanging:

[~] # /bin/sh -x /etc/init.d/fix_home.sh start
..
