Post by irsprint84 »

Model: TS420U
Firmware: 3.8.1 Build 20121205
Domain: Windows 2008 R1 x64
ACL Permissions: Windows based

Issue: we occasionally lose Windows ACL permissions on our shared folder does anyone know why why this could happen? the NAS is being used for home drives and we have to reset permissions

The current stable FW for your model is 4.0.7 build 0412 (or 4.1.0 B0416 RC2). Noone cares about and noone will fix your outdated one.

This issue is supposed to be fixed for QTS 4.1.2. (I'll believe it if I see it). :-0
This issue will never get fixed in any QTS 3.x.x version.

Why are you Necroposting to an old thread? QTS 4.1.1 didn't even exist on May 1st, 2014.

Same here... I got frustrated for this being a known issue for some time and the resolution is still to come. That's why in certain circunstances it is better to invest in building a custom solution than purchasing a product that even the manufacturer doesn't care about it.

in case there is a solution, in my case AD auth is broken, too. Oh sorry, it is surely not broken, because qnap would never release such an obvious bug.

Yes, ACLs...the reason Qnap and Domains don't mix. May I offer you a suggestion? Run, don't walk from joining a Qnap box to a domain. I'm not joking...One day you will start getting numbers instead of user group names. It's a nice idea but they just aren't there yet...
