Photostation - Exclude folders

Post by soerengormrasmussen »

Product : Qnap TS-459 PRo II
Firmware version: 4.1.0
Software: Photostation

Hi,
I am running Photo Station and using the default Multimedis/Photo folder to store pictures.
My questions is how to exclude other folders in the Multimedia folder from photo scanning

I also have folders for movies and music located in the Multimedia folders, and cover images show up along with my personal pictures
because all subfolders are by default scanned for pictures.

I have tried to look through all configuration items and done some "googling",
but I have not found the solution yet.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Søren.

We have repeatedly requested better control over this, and to date, all requests I am aware of have been ignored by QNAP. If you want better control under the present implementation, simply remove all media from your Multimedia share, and place them in other locations within your filesystem, and then add those folders to the Multimedia Management configuration with each marked appropriately for the type of media (Photo and/or Music and/or Video) each folder contains:

You'll note that the Multimedia folder (and all it's subfolders) are pre-marked as being for Photo and Music and Video, and these can not be changed.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I had a sneaking suspicion that this would be the case.

I have just completed a large re-arrange of my movies (linked into a XBMC sql database etc), so I am a bit hesitant to change it all again. :-(
but I think that your solution is the right way to solve this problem.

As a last attempt I think I will try to find some kind of configuration file, that can be altered.
however, I guess that could potentially influence the overall performance of the QNAP.

Besides this one point, its really a great piece of hardware
Cheers

No need - QTS 4.1.1 will permit a more granular config for the Multimedia and the (virtual) home share folder.

You must have been beating on the R&D department pretty hard to get this fixed. Thank-you. QNAP typically ignores all our requests for years, so I wasn't expecting this to be resolved until at least 2020.

This is very good news indeed. Thank-you for sharing. (QNAP does not seem to have released QTS 4.1.1 even for closed Beta testing yet, so I haven't seen it yet here)

Awesome screenshot. Thanks.....

What isn't true? That this resolves the problem, or that QNAP ignores our requests for years?
If the latter, I would argue that I'm right, and I can provide plenty of examples if I must.

Fair enough, I think we can both live with this word choice.

No - there are still ***** things happen with the Multimedia Library resp. the default shared folders Multimedia on the 4.1.1 (not available for most NAS models yet) for example.
