Will QNAP TS 269 Pro offer Multimedia Station

Postby COLDK » Sat Aug 04, 2012 11:42 pm

I am currently in the process of buying a new QNAP NAS. I need a model with a x86 structure and I have been looking at two models the TS 259 Pro and the TS 269 Pro. The NAS will be used as a private NAS to make multimedia files accessible around the house and occasionally from WAN

The main - and I beleive only - difference regarding specifications is that TS 269 comes with a 2.1 GhZ processor where the TS 259 offers a 1.8 GhZ processor. But when I read about the services I am able to run from the NAS I don´t see Multimedia Station mentioned on the TS 269 Pro.

My question: Is Multimedia Station, Download Station and "the normal" features i know from my current model (TS 110) available on the TS 269 Pro or will I be able to install it via QPKG - or is the features of the TS 269 Pro more intended for business use?

Best regards

In addition, the TS-269 also offers expandable RAM (one empty SODIMM-slot that will take a up to 2 GB for a total of 3 GB), SATA 6 Gbit/s formerly known as SATA III (TS-459 Pro+ have SATA 3 Gbit/s formerly known as SATA II), 2 of the 5 USB-ports are USB 3.0 and a HDMI-port (currently not used).

As far as I know, all the well-known features should be available with the exception of Surveillance Station, as that is replaced by the improved Surveillance Station Pro on the TS-269 (which includes the new surveillance licensing scheme where one camera is included and additional, up to 12, cameras are bought as add-ons).
No, RAID has never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups you will eventually lose data!

Stop disabling it on the Admin WebUI (http://NAS-IP:8080) > System Administration > General Settings
Image. :D

Simply uncheck the: Disable and hide the home/ multimedia features such as Multimedia Station. Photo Station, Music Station, Download Station, iTunes server media server. (You will need to log into the system again.) option, and then logoff and back in again.

Hope this helps.

Patrick, I don't think anybody have disabled anything. As I understand things, this was a presale question.

Furthermore, as far as I know the configuration option you're referring to is only available on the TS-X79-models, so not on topic in this thread.
