PPTP - VPN Client

Postby lunaticasylum » Tue Jan 03, 2012 4:02 am

Actually runing firmware 3.6Beta on TS-459P+ and would be really interested by having the possibility to setup a PPTP client in the network interface.

Precision: This meens that the TS-459P is the client that connects to a PPTP server. This feature is especially interesting to hide the IP for the torrent and the eDonkey downloads

Hi lunaticasylum & ludo167,
For PPTP VPN client, you can use the easy setup from the new MyCloudNAS Connect utility
http://eu1.qnap.com/Storage/Beta/MyClou ... 0.1226.zip

You just need to enter the NAS MyCloudNAS name, user name, and password for easy connection.

Install FW 3.6 beta
Enable pptp vpn server
Open port 1723 in your firewall and forward to internal ip of nas.
Create the vpn connection from windows --> controll panel --> network settings.
Also enable an user to use the vnp client. From the vpn tabb in your qnap, if i remember correct.
When you have connected the vpn client to the server you can browser the nas from default vpn server ip "10.0.0.1"

Cheers.

Thanks for your answer, but i don't really understand how this could set the Qnap as a PPTP client

I atleast must have read your post to fast. To my knowledge only the server function is installed with the 3.6 firmware.
I dont think you will have any luck making your qnap act as a clients and connect to a pptp server.

Cheers.

/bump

I get as far a being briefly in connected state towards my remote VPN until I end up in FIN_WAIT1 using pptp.
But I can't get it to bind to an interface (ppp).
No logs generated (atleast haven't found them yet :P) so makes it hard to debug.

Anyone figured this out yet ? :)

No, but as a work around I'm using a LAN->LAN PPTP tunnel established at the router level using a Draytek box.

Good idea, I will try and set it up on my router instead ... thanks! :)
Luckily my ISP isn't too careful with their admin password for their mandatory modem/router :P

I will set it up at my router to save me a few headaches for now .... ;)
I've gotten as far as compiling a valid PPTP client. Next step is to try and integrate it so it connects from the QNAP.
